They all work at 144hz without drivers. As I said: Monitors don't use drivers anymore. I also have windows update permanently disabled on all windows installs from the first time I install it (never let it run, never let it download or install anything, even windows 11). My computer isn't pulling down drivers from windows update either.
That limitation you're referring to is your laptop's hardware limiting what connected monitors can do. It's not a lack of drivers.
you can install a driver if the display has some other features, usb or other stuff but its never necessary for it to work as a standalone display
I have a suggestion for you: Pick any 100hz or faster monitor for sale new then go to that company's website and find the support section for that exact model. Then try to find a download for drivers for that monitor.
You won't find it. No company or manufacturer provides drivers for any monitor today. Literally no one. Does not exist. Can not download it, can not install it, can't get it. All because it's not necessary anymore just like I tried to tell you.
That's your Lenovo laptop limiting what you can do with monitors. If you connected all of those monitors to a normal desktop computer you wouldn't have those limitations.
then it will let you select 90+hz refresh rate
tv defaults are 29.97-30-59.94-60hz
If your monitor only supports 1920x1080 @ 100+ Hz over displayport then you must use displayport. And before you think about it: No you can not use a displayport to hdmi adapter on the monitor side and connect it to an hdmi port on your laptop and get full refresh rate that way either. Doesn't work. Must be a direct displayport connection from the monitor to a displayport port on either your laptop or a desktop video card. If your laptop doesn't have a displayport port (hdmi only) then you don't get to use that monitor at full refresh rate on that laptop.
AOC does this with a lot of their high refresh rate screens. They also do not distribute drivers for their monitors so that won't change anything either.
I just played a game with video running in background, yet when the monitor cut out during gaming, the sound of the video was still audible (usually, if the entire graphics card crashes and the video driver fails as a result, shouldn't the video stop as well?)
Ever since the issue appears, the PC also won't start sometimes, indicating a VGA problem (white light on MB).
I just disabled resizable BAR, but that didn't change anything (the problem still occurred).
I do have drivers installed for the display, which came with the ASUS DisplayWidget. But that never caused issues before, even when I actively used the Widget (which I now rarely do - it lets you change various screen properties).
I think it's a hardware problem, as the system always starts up with a POST message indicating instability (once I press CTRL+ALT+DEL, the system then restarts & boots into Windows).
The system now detects the display at start-up/during POST/Loading Screen, the problem with losing signal only ever happens in 3D applications (reproduced in Vulkan, DX10 and DX12).
One day I could play RDR2 and AC Mirage for hours without issues, the next day Medal of Honor 2010 crashed after 10 minutes.
I suspect a hardware issue, either with the PSU, the Mainboard (as that's by far the oldest part in my PC), or the Graphics Card itself. Or possibly a combination thereof. Since I tried everything I could think of, my plan is to buy a new MB to see if that solves any of the problems, and then send in whatever else isn't working.
Unless you guys have any more suggestions... Thanks in advance.
