CPU stuck!

While scavenging at my favorite local electronics recycler I came across an old AM2 system with a super nice Zalman CNPS9500 cooler on it, the board was nothing fancy but I for sure wanted the cooler. How should one go about removing the absolute most stuck on CPU I've ever seen, without damaging the cooler (could care less about the CPU, it was something low end anyways).
Literally just want it for the cooler but don't want to damage the cooler.
Here's what I've tried:
Soaking in vinegar for a day
Taking a hammer to the CPU (somehow did nothing)
Bench press and brute force

if the cooler is on the cpu in the socket, carefully twist the cooler, the cpu pins will hold the cpu straight in the socket and the cooler should release

go both directions a few times if it does not appear to move from one way

worst case you can pull the cpu out of the socket even with the retention arm locked
and put the cooler in a vice and use a chizel or pry tool to remove the cpu from the cooler

some of those old thermal pastes were a thermal epoxy that set and harden, no amount of alcohol will soften it, it will need to be scraped off

CPU came off with the cooler attached, I might try a small hacksaw at this point. CPU is beyond repair at this point but I have a friend with a heat gun that might help.
