7900xt/Drawing Tablet Question
I was planning on buying a GAOMON PD1161 to use with GIMP because I don't have money for Photoshop every month, and I looked into my GPU and realized there might not even be enough ports on the damn thing to run one. I have a M3RC Speedster 7900xt, and with how new this damn thing is you'd think it'd have what it needs. Any assistance in figuring out whether I can use one would be appreciated!

Well, I mean, it is a 1080p pen display. The only part you plug into your graphics card is the video cable, and 1080p isn't particularly demanding. Even H.D.M.I. 1.0 should be able to handle that, and we've moved past that long ago. All of the tablet pen functionality would be linked to the U.S.B. A connection, which goes into the motherboard or a U.S.B. hub and not the graphics card.

Looking at your video card, it has one H.D.M.I. and three displayport outputs. Worst case scenario is that you'd have to buy a displayport to H.D.M.I. adapter if you need to use it with a monitor that does not support displayport input. Preferably an active adapter just to be sure it will work.

You should be using Displays w/ DisplayPort, freeing up the HDMI port on GPU for something such as this Tablet.

For a drawing tablet that uses HDMI however you might be OK to use one of your GPU's DP ports; you would require an "Active DP male to HDMI female" adapter though.

I concur that you should be prioritising DisplayPort for monitors as most of the time, DP is better than HDMI for that

For drawing tablets, HDMI is fine
