Question for Phone Nerds
Do you phone nerds upgrade your phone every year. Be that Apple/Google/Samsung or other makers or do you skip a couple of years.

Just interested to know why and how many as myself I leave it for at least 5 years before upgrading.

Every 3 years I get a new phone. I never spend more than 50 dollars. Ive had a celero 5g, a TCL something, and now a cheap motorola. I laugh at people spending over a grand on a cell phone. Thats money that should have went into apple stock.

tend to keep phones as long as possible, either until there is one or other problem with phone or just want to get a new phone. shortest i had a phone was maybe two years, max was about 8 years. over the years used, Motorola, Nokia, blackberry, Samsung, Apple

but its banned from canadian carriers after one year of release.
I checked the specs. The SoC CPU so weak.

But much more affordable than the Librem.

My Fairphone is a nice middle ground between standard locked down OEM crap and a fully FSF-approved Open OS rom.

Dropped my S9 again, this time the speaker had crackling noises and had to get a new phone.

Had it since release and dropped it many times before this with no cracks or visible damage.

Got a S24.

I only upgraded my phone to a cheap Samsung 5G phone. I only use it for tethering and simple tasks anyway. Outside of that I have no real use for it.

I will be keeping it until it doesn't receive updates. No need to waste money on a phone yearly when I can just pay my student loan or even fund business with that money.

There's simply no universe I would do that.

The phone i got is one Ill keep for as long as I can. Got an iphone se 3rd gen. Last iphone with touchID from what I understand.
Had this phone for 5 years now and it is supported until 2026 so until then (I guess along with PC's, phones are also supposed to last at least 7 years)...

I think Samsung has upped their support, for my S24U and Fold6, I believe I'll get 5 years of OS updates, and up to 7 years of security updates. At least, that's what I'd heard ....
