Looking for a Motherboard, with 7.1 audio jacks.
Everything i found is literally just stereo.
Why do they make crappy boards nowadays. With not even the essentials you need.

spdif (optical or digital rca) isnt truly 5.1/7.1
its more stereo surround, or matrixed/compressed rear/sides

the mobo hdmi might be able to do dd true 5.1/7.1
but most will not without a display attached

amd/nvidia gpus can output hdmi audio without a display

but why look for 7.1 when you cant run it in game.....find a dolby digital LIVE sound card and keep it for years....my sound blaster is 12 years old and still working....also happy to know the drivers work on 11......

also SPDIF can run real 5.1 and even 7.1.....its not longer supported do to copy laws and keeping things in HDMI.....

If you configure 5.1 to be wider, that's really all you need.
Want it to sound even better, get a Soundbar and use that for the Center speaker.

You're lucky if maybe 1% of games supports proper 7.1 without just pushing the rear speakers audio to the sides as well.

Overall, pointless venture.

Not really, not if my speaker set is build like that. The plugs need to go in somewhere.

You using a computer speaker set? Or a Digital Receiver?

not many receivers have 7.1 analog inputs

needs multi channel input like this
https://imgur.com/a/aM2KBq0

5.1 analog input was more common, but still pretty rare

I don't see the point. Just use 5.1 or use HDMI.

most receivers from around that era did not have hdmi input

some did hdmi switching, but needed optical or analog to return sound from the tv

it was the inbetween from stereo surround composite/component to hdmi becoming standard
Trust GXT 658 Tytan 5.1 Speaker

No. This is incorrect. It can send matrixed surround sound in the form of Pro Logic or Pro Logic II like every other stereo output, but Sony Phillips Digital Interface can also send lossy compressed ac3 format Dolby Digital surround sound, which is not matrixed stereo. It is a true 5.1 format.

Even ones with only two jacks on the rear i/o do 7.1 if you use the front panel jacks. But I thought you understood that when you couldn't find any board that does 7.1 period.

They can indeed. But i am fan of the plug and play option.
Why couldn't you find one in the first place? And then the "But I thought that was understood" BS.

Cause the manufactures of motherboards are douchebags. Some have the amount of plugins needed for 7.1. But miss some other essentials, like wifi, or a 3th slot for M.2. It's how they make boards nowadays. Same with pre made pc's from online stores. Who make you force to either go for a sole amd radeon rig or intel nvidia. Also the motherboard needs to be, capable of handling future hardware. Like a 4090, or a ryzen 9. or even faster and more memory. It needs to be able of handling my memory speed. So i can designate normal memory to my GPU. Without a bottleneck, causing onboard lag, or make my GPU work harder to handle it.

And i do not like to work with XMP files. Most a crap. This way it should just work.
Cause everything fits.

ok OP.. any reason you not just buy an seperate soundcard?
for what type of cpu you are looking one?

if I presume AM5...

ok you want 7.1 audio
than you also want an alc 1220 chip
**
i futher presume you want the logical other things.
*wifi 7
*full size board
*maxumum ram support (256gb ideally 192gb minimum)
870E chipset

than
ASUS ProArt X870E-Creator WiFi
is the board you want.

if thats to expensive
Gigabyte B650E AORUS PRO X USB4
has sadly only the 650 chipset.. but has all the other options
