i have questions about updating firmware of my controller

i have two laptops: aaa and bbb. aaa has xbox accessories app version 300.2112.14001.0 and bbb has xbox accessories app version 300.2202.25001.0. i am playing games by using my xbox series controller on aaa

the firmware version of the controller is 5.9.2709.0 and the xbox accessories app says that there are no firmware updates available when i connect the controller to aaa. however, when i connect the controller to bbb then the xbox accessories app says that there is a firmware update available

i am considering updating the firmware when the controller is connected to bbb and then i connect the controller to aaa. i have some questions:-

1) i didnt sign into xbox live on bbb and the xbox accessories app keeps on asking me to sign in and i am pressing cancel and then an error message saying that i need to sign in so i can configure the controller shows. can i update the firmware without signing in into xbox live?

2) is it okay if i stay on the old version xbox accessories app on aaa and i connect the controller with the updated firmware to aaa? nothing bad will happen if i do that and i don't have to install the newer xbox accessories app on aaa?

3) will the controller which has updated firmware work ok on all windows 10 builds regardless of which build the laptop is using? for example it will work on 1809, build 2004, build 21h2 and so on?

As long as we're talking about Win10/11 then yes, the controller should work fine on those OS with any of those firmware. However updating to latest firmware for a device like that can help overall.

You shouldn't need the accessories app on both machines. Just on one. Make sure to go to Windows Store app and do a check for updates so that you can ensure any installed apps through Windows Store are latest version. Use the latest version app to update to latest Xbox controller firmware.

If you have any MS account, then you can sign into anything "Xbox"

300.2202.25001.0 is the latest version

however, i need to have xbox accessories app on aaa so i can test the buttons in the app. is it ok if i stay on the old version xbox accessories app on aaa and i use the controller with the updated firmware on aaa and the controller wont clash with the old version xbox accessories app?

The app and firmware are not directly related for controller function, other then the older app version might not be able to fetch you most recent firmware as you can clearly see.
