27" 1440P vs 32" 4K for GAMING & Work?
I sit about 70-80 cm (2.5ft) away from the monitor. I will play a mix of solo (1440p-4K) and competitive games (1080p) on Geforce Now. I also will work and watch YouTube videos hence 4K is nice. I don't really need anything more than 144-170 Hertz.

What size monitor should I get? There is also MiniLED, OLED, IPS screens etc and don't know which one to choose. I heard OLED are very expensive and don't show text well so not great for work.

I personally have a 27 inch 4K monitor, Windows scaling set to 200%.

Right, and does it downscale properly to 1080p or 1440p for demanding games or competitive games?
This is why I have to have 2x Displays; 34 inch 1440p (21:9) high refresh rate for Gaming; 28 inch 2160p (4K 16:9) for Work and accessory apps.

I have a 27" 4K monitor. I use it for both games and general stuff (Office, basic photo editing etc).
It downscales just fine for games (often set it to 1440p) and quite frankly I can't tell the diff between that and 4K in what I play most often (Snowrunner, Metro, Zomboid etc) . Maybe the monitor upscales the input?

For desktop work I have it scaled to 175%.

BTW it's a Dell 27" U2723QE - very pretty but only 60Hz so not suitable for games that need high FPS. I chose it for photo viewing/editing primarily, and I'm happy with 60FPS in games.
Yea, below 32 inch is way too small for me to game on anymore.
I have enough trouble with my 17 inch Laptop.

4K below 32-34 or above inches doesn't make any sense at all really.
The whole reason I got a 28 inch 4K Monitor was because I was using 27 inch Monitor already for Gaming and needed something as an accessory display screen. Having a 4K screen of around that size for that purpose was suitable. 4K Gaming however on screens that small is just kind pointless when you don't notice much if any visual losses with 1440p, might having much higher FPS averages. Plus not having high refresh rate is really a big deal as well.

For gaming maybe - but for photo work DPI is more important I reckon. You can zoom in on areas of the pic to examine small detail, see if it is in sharp focus. My small gen 6 Surface Pro at 2736 x 1824 probably has a higher DPI than my 27" monitor. The 27" screen is better to see the 'big picture' though.
But having a 4K Monitor does not dictate also having good PPI (Pixels Per Inch). Some panels will have more pixels per inch then others. The higher this is, the better. If the PPI is around average or too low for that screen size, overall imagery will look chunky/blocky, like it's lacking anti-aliasing,
