bluetooth 5.3 dongle help
so I got some iems that are bluetooth 5.3, my tablet has 5.0, my pc has 4.2

they sound amazing though the tablet, they sound like ♥♥♥♥ though my pc, streaming the pc though wifi to the tablet and then to the iem sounds amazing.

my best guess is that my bluetooth doesnt support a codec it has, or is just old to the point that while it was good back then, is crap now and even cheap iems got good to the point it shows.

so im looking at bluetooth dongles, and I have 0 idea what to get or if I even need it. my use case is being able to walk around the house and not have dropouts while also benefiting from better audio quality.

but i'm wondering if the tiny ass dongles are good for that, then the ones that seem like far better for distance, just kind of feel sketchy because not a single known brand makes on that looks like that. and that's not even questioning maybe some setting in my bluetooth is causing the audio to sound bad and I don't need a new device for this at all.

any help?

You could get a pcie wifi+bluetooth card. They dont make any that are just bluetooth, but maybe you could use good wifi too.

Most motherboards have some unused pcie x1 slots that are there mainly for network cards. Better using that instead of a more valuable external usb port for a dongle.

I go wired, for years had bad wifi (belkin... god do I hate them now) from bad and supposedly good companies (asus over the air firmware updated to a firmware incompatible and I just gave up on consumer all in one wifi) so I got a normal router, an edge router x, and got a ubiquity lite6 for wifi, and its connected to their older 5 pro in a mesh for whole house coverage. thankfully on the wifi front everything works and isn't a constant headache of restarting multiple times a day or just dying for hours on end to magically fix itself.

as for usb ports, I think I still have 4 unused ones in the back of the computer, id honestly probably add in a 2.5gbit network card rather than wifi, but 1gbit isn't a bottleneck currently.

BT dongles are garbage from my experience (but maybe some better ones were released recently, idk). I haven't experienced good BT on a desktop computer before getting a motherboard with an Intel AX200/201 BT+wifi chip. (For 5.3 I think you need AX210/211).

The funny part is that the BT chip on those cards connects via internal USB anyway, but I've never seen it used in a dongle. (The M.2 version gets USB via the M.2 slot, the PCIe version you need to connect to a USB header on your motherboard by cable).

PC = everything BT is garbage because of WinOS lack of support.

Use dedicated 2.4Ghz Wireless Headphones or just use Wired Analog or USB headsets

get a set with dedicated dongle/tx
bt sucks on pc for everything
That's why I tend to buy Headphones that have option for 3.5mm male to male wired cable and have BT built in. That way I can use BT on Phone/Tablet and use the wired connection for my PC stuff.
