Most motherboards have some unused pcie x1 slots that are there mainly for network cards. Better using that instead of a more valuable external usb port for a dongle.
I go wired, for years had bad wifi (belkin... god do I hate them now) from bad and supposedly good companies (asus over the air firmware updated to a firmware incompatible and I just gave up on consumer all in one wifi) so I got a normal router, an edge router x, and got a ubiquity lite6 for wifi, and its connected to their older 5 pro in a mesh for whole house coverage. thankfully on the wifi front everything works and isn't a constant headache of restarting multiple times a day or just dying for hours on end to magically fix itself.
as for usb ports, I think I still have 4 unused ones in the back of the computer, id honestly probably add in a 2.5gbit network card rather than wifi, but 1gbit isn't a bottleneck currently.
The funny part is that the BT chip on those cards connects via internal USB anyway, but I've never seen it used in a dongle. (The M.2 version gets USB via the M.2 slot, the PCIe version you need to connect to a USB header on your motherboard by cable).
Use dedicated 2.4Ghz Wireless Headphones or just use Wired Analog or USB headsets
bt sucks on pc for everything
