https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gpu-hierarchy,4388.html is handy if you aren't sure about hardware. You can also make a custom resolution via DSR and try it out that way before you buy. https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3587/~/how-to-enable-dynamic-super-resolution-in-games. You can even try out 4K if you want.
Basicaly I could very easily see pixels on my 27" 1080 display on my 1440 its alot harder from my viewing distance.
sorry if its rambally
Well I don't know if it's 1.7 worse exactly. But 1440p is 70% more pixels and that's more work for the GPU to do. Not trying to play semantics or anything. It's not like you don't get anything for the increased pixels. Games look pretty nice at 1440p.
But I also gotta say as someone who games on both it's not like going down to 1080p is a big loss or let down.
I haven't had any issues or complaints doing 1440p for the last 6 years. Granted you don't want to be running garbage hardware, which you're not. It may necessitate upgrades more often to maintain the performance you want though.
1080p is perfectly fine in its own right and the upside is because it's a lot fewer pixels you could probably run hardware a bit longer without upgrading.
So there's some trade offs. If you want to be using that 3070 in 2028 then 1080p is a little more realistic. If you're always going to upgrade as needed, then sure 1440p is pretty nice.
Sometimes the improvements are just text book diminishing returns. It is an improvement but nothing to break your neck over.
high fps take more cpu and gpu
1440p60 is less on cpu and gpu than 1080p144hz (if they can keep up with 144fps)
if its over 100hz, make sure it supports gsync/freesync so it will limit the refresh rate to what the gpu can output
But upscaling kinda sucks. Will probably get better though. About the performance hit, you can think like "my gpu could do it" but you can also think "right now my gpu can do it at 65% load". I don't want it to be at max all the time. And the buffer I have now for future games would be gone.
again, if he is able go run games at 1080p 144+fps, it will run them at 1440p 60+ fps and not need any scaling
Both are 1440p
I don't notice much, if any pixelation at 34" 1440p. Especially microq oled
I kind of want that LG 39" 240Hz 1440p. I'd much rather have a smoother gameplay experience and slightly less visual fidelity. Much better on the eyes, plus if I watch at a distance for most other content (I would also use this as a TV b/c why not).
It would fit my desk
I don't do much gaming anymore. I don't usually have the time. If anything, I have time to watch random lazy episodes of tv shows I've already seen, in order to fall asleep between work shifts.
