I don't want to open my laptop just to read the model on it.
"Samsung Electronics NVMe SSD Controller PM9A1/PM9A3/980PRO"
what cpu?
that will say what pci-e rev it can use upto
and the board will limit how many pci-e lanes it can use
and what m.2 lengths are supported
once you know those things
start here
https://pcpartpicker.com/products/internal-hard-drive/#D=1
filter by
size, 1+tb
form factor, m.2 22(length)
interface m.2 pci-e rev
WD Black SSD [www.amazon.ca]

also, im assuming thats the only drive in the laptop, meaning it contains the OS as well?
as for size and speeds, i believe the higher sized drives run slower than the lower sized ones?
but in your case it being a laptop and only having 1 slot and/or no pcie slots to use an add-in card.
going with a larger sized drive may be the best bet and will last quite awhile size wise, if you arent uninstalling/reinstalling games to free up space regularly.
samsung prices i see.
1TB's seems to be generally ranging around $100.
2TB's ranging around $150
4TB's seem to jump about double the price at around $300-$400 lol..
in any case, i guess what you choose will depend on your budget, or if you are willing to save a bit more, to get something larger in size and at a decent price, or wait for sales.
same with my samsung drives.
as well as other brands.
hdd should last 10-20+ years
2.5in drives mostly fail due to physical damage, g-force shock
