A small tip for AMD owners - use auto detect drivers installer.
Some of you may know about this, but it can be a surprise for others. When you install any AMD driver, I recommend using the auto-detect tool and AMD cleanup utility.

When I install GPU drivers using the tool, it installs an additional 7 other AMD drivers for me. Lack of or old drivers may be the reason why some users may experience problems.

Here is a screenshot of what other drivers I get when using the auto-detect tool.

When the chipset driver doesn't want to install, but with autodetect it does.

Doesnt make any sense to me, tbh.
The drivers in your screenshot are being automtically installed when you install the chipset or GPU driver.
You do it once, when you set up a PC. Thats it. Once!!!!

GPU-drivers:
1. www.amd.com
2. enter GPU-model
3. download driver

Chipset drivers:
1. www.your-motherboards-website.com
2. enter motherboard-model
3. download driver

Once youve got your GPU driver, you can automatically or manually update it like forever? Just click on the little settings-menu and it will download the newest driver without any problems for the next 100 years.

edit:
I repair PCs in my spare time for a living and I can assure you, that these auto-driver nonsense is causing more issues than solving it.
Using tools like Chocolatey to update average apps is one thing, but using auto-detect drivers for your chipset and GPU.......I wouldnt do that because the time youre saving is negligible.
You can do it manually in a jiffy without the risk of messing things up.

This shouldn't be right. Would stink to think the only way to get the right drivers is with the AMD driver auto installer.

You either use AMD tools or manually check your motherboard drivers if they are up to date.

Download and use a 3rd party tool to install a driver? Would it not make more sense to just download the driver?

i download and one install vs two downloads and two installs, self explanatory.

Maybe because the user has no idea what to select from the list.

Also I've used Ryzen AM4 drivers to install chipset drivers on older AM3 motherboards.

However the Chipset Driver for AM5 is different.

And also if you have any Ryzen based Laptop then yes you need the Notebook edition of Ryzen Drivers which is another different package all it's own.

You generally go to Motherboard support page for everything else; not for Chipset or GPUs

It shouldn’t matter that much. Drivers from AMD are more likely be the newer ones while from motherboard manufacturers may have some customised settings.

I just commented because I ran into a situation where I wanted to install an AMD Ryzen mobile chipset and for some reason didn't like the laptop, but with autodetect I got the same drivers, which was weird.

If the user doesn't know their chipset, they won't look for any drivers for that matter, and are more likely to use a prebuild PC that comes with it's own driver update program from the manufacturer, or he/she will manually download each driver for the model.

boards often have minor changes that need specific drivers

correct drivers is always better than the latest

Usually it would be best to install what the Motherboard provides then after a reboot go get latest from AMD and install that. As sometimes the Motherboard version release might include some extras and such that AMD would not provide directly.

But overall, there should not be anything wrong or incorrect about using the AMD auto detect option. Just like with any Intel Chipset Motherboard or Laptop, those users can use Intel Driver Assistant website from Intel to check for and download updated drivers for anything Intel based in the Motherboard or Laptop; not just Core Chipset but others to such as Intel GPU, LAN, WIFI, BT, etc.

Sure but it’s also very unlikely that AMD own drivers will be wrong. They provide the drivers to motherboard manufacturers after all. You get vanilla ones from AMD and potentially customised ones from mobo websites what is not necessary always better.

Otherwise AMD own drivers would be always the wrong ones.

Yes in the case of a Laptop or OEM PreBuild Desktop you often must fully uninstall the OEM supplied drivers and rebooting before using the standalone drivers from Intel, AMD, NVIDIA...

Auto detect gives me 8 drivers in total. One of them is 3D cache performance optimiser for my 7800x3D CPU. I’m not even sure how to install that manually and if it’s even available on my motherboard’s website.

Because it's bundled with the chipset driver on AMD's site. Your screenshot literately says it's the AMD Chipset Driver, it's not rocket science.
https://www.amd.com/en/support/chipsets/amd-socket-am5/x670e

The only drivers one should download from motherboards site are Audio and maybe Wifi/Bluetooth. You get the other drivers from manufacturers site like amd, intel, nvidia, realtek, mediatek.
