Is it OK to shut down a laptop after gaming?
Would it be better to let it run / idle for a few mins to cool off before shutting it down?

yes you can, as the laptop wont get any hotter by shutting it down. just cools down slowlier.
shutting it down will cool off the components faster than leaving it on for a few minutes

It is not a car engine, you can just shut it down straight away

Thanks for the replies.

Even if not a car engine, suddenly shutting down whatever fan may be running would probably cause a small spike in temps. But nothing it seems I should worry about.

Cheers.

I should probably get a cooling pad if I am gaming on it anyway, it gets pretty warm in spots. It really isn't a gaming machine.
