So the issue is not solved. Also some brands get really funny with warranty if you don't use original converter and use your own cable.

and dont bend and stress the electrial connectors on any pc or anything else for that matter.get a 90 degree extension not a idiotic adapter thats prone to failures you'll have zero issues.heres a couple variations.

I’m not an expert but some knowledgeable people argue that it’s not just user error.
I think Gamers Nexus came to a conclusion too quickly and now people with genuine problems are blamed for not fully inserting a cable into their $2000 GPUs.
Nope you don't need to worry.
I have one myself and it runs fine, enjoy the hardcore high-refresh gaming and/or 4K HDR with it. I have a large case with rounded side panels however.
The issue with the 12vhpwr connector is actually quite hard to recreate, but depends on your PC case being metal and forced up against it when closing the side panel. So long you don't bend it 90 degree and jam it up in a small case, you will never have that issue. You have to shove it in and cramp it up pretty hard for it to happen too. Rather that cable to loop around smoothly with a gap available between it and the side panel of the case. Problem solved, it's merely user error anyways.
Its not just the adapter, some cases with the native 12vhpwr cable as well, though more rare but still the risk is there, can't avoid it im afraid.
What I don't get, I got a 3090i I OC the snot out of for fun and it consumes more power than the 4090, I used the adapter for a while and had no issues, and now using a cable mod cable for my EVGA PSU. So I still wonder why some 4090s still melt things.
Starting from the materials and constructions, the 3000 series is in better shape.
The connector had to be a sort of revolution... Personally, if the 5000 series were completely discarded, it would be a way of saying, let's reduce the size of these video cards? I need something that doesn't heat up and catch fire.
They are made in a rush for market fashion with perhaps some obsolescence to see if you are willing to fill the room with a video card.
