I don't know. I didn't think to write it down because when it's happened in the last (like once before) there were no issues after a restart. The blue screen hasn't come up again.
I gave that a try and it said the below:
"Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them.
For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located at
windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For offline
repairs, details are included in the log file provided by the /OFFLOGFILE flag."
I then restarted my PC but the issue is still occurring.
Full CBS log is here: https://justpaste.it/etwr9
dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
Error: 87
The online/cleanup-image/restorehealth option is unknown.
The funny thing is that I cannot even reproduce that 87 Error code at all no matter what I try.
They say it can be caused by a missed input, so I asked about the dism / and spaces; although, when I miss input the root, I cannot reproduce that Error 87, lol.
So, let's see, I have had another person with this issue but they were using a pirated Windows OS. It was pulling internet errors but turned out to be the RAM and the pirated software.
Here is what I would do, go to the Motherboard Manufacturers website and reinstall the original Wi-Fi adapter - that is, if you are even using Wi-Fi, most likely as it is a laptop.
I seen this issue personally, but I remedied my issue using a method not recommended (using Windows Update legacy drivers).
And could you state which Windows Update is failing. I bet it is the one for the Windows RE for Pro and + editions.
This is found by going to Windows Update < View Update History and search for the one that has failed.
Also, make sure WI-Fi is turned on because I had situations where it would shut itself off.
Maybe even try to toggle it on then off and back on again. I seen this work once before also.
Yep, ran as administrator and removed spaces.
Not using pirated software, so I dunno if that makes a difference.
Yep, using wifi. I think my motherboard is the HP 878A. I went to the HP website but it said that there's no software or drivers available for my laptop (it's over 3 years old, which might be why). I did do a network diagnostic through the website which came up all clear, though.
The update that failed is "KB5034441: Windows Recovery Environment update for Windows 10, version 21H2 and 22H2: January 9, 2024".
Toggled my wifi off and on but there was no change (would have been amazing if it fixed it though!)
Literally the command line is: dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
also can use this line: dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
But the thinking is that the Wi-Fi adapter seems to have an issue as dism needs to connect online.
This "KB5034441: Windows Recovery Environment update for Windows 10, version 21H2 and 22H2: January 9, 2024" can also be ignored for Home Edition users.
And have you checked for any BIOS updates for this HP laptop within the HP Software Center?
I wonder if HP has an interior troubleshooting tool for WI-Fi. I forget because I rarely use my HP laptop.
But your issue is 100% related to that Wi-Fi adapter/driver.
Oh, haha! I totally misunderstood that. It says the restore operation was completed successfully.
I'm updating my BIOS from the HP website.
So try that first and if the Wi-Fi issue persists (also recheck HP Software Center for possible updates for the new BIOS revision) you can attempt to manually reinstall the Wi-Fi adapter/driver:
Reinstall the Wi-Fi legacy adapter through Windows Device Manager < Rt-click Intel Dual Band Wireless AX 201 < Update Driver < Browse PC for Drivers < Let Me Pick < and simply click on Intel Dual Band Wireless-Ax 201 < click next and allow it to reinstall.
You might see 3 or more of these drivers, try them all if you must but only use AX 201 (compatible). Similar to this: https://justpaste.it/6k3h4
If my experience serves well, the HP BIOS Update should remedy the issue. One reason I personally bought an HP laptop was because their updates are pretty much foolproof. :p
Issue is still occurring but I haven't tried all of the different drivers yet. I'll have to give it a try tomorrow when it isn't past 1 AM. Thanks for your help!
One of the harder and seemingly complex issues are Wi-Fi adapter related.
So, I updated the BIOS and tried all the different wifi adapter drivers. I also went through the HP support assistant (and tested everything) and connected my laptop to the internet via ethernet but the issue is still occurring. Any other suggestions?
