Gaming Keypad, (not keyboard)
Is there anything like this that exists? I did some searches and found things that all look like keyboards. That's not what i'm looking for. I'm looking for something that is simliar though. A one handed keypad/button type controller that i could use instead of a keyboard for Keyboard and mouse games. Something with slightly bigger buttons and perhaps in a bit easier of a config to use. Perhaps something that has 12 buttons in a similar but slightly larger layout than a keyboard.

Does anything like this exist? It's certainly doable on the custom side of things so i suppose that could be an option, but is there something already being made that could fit my needs?

Dear god that looks awful, if i was 12 i probably would've thought it was cool though.

You could just aswell get a half size/small form factor mechanical keyboard.

I got one of these since I hate using my laptop keyboard

Works well

Reminds me of the macro keypad search from yesteryear.

Appreciate the awards, I actually upgraded from the Belkin Nostromo N52 speedpad[www.amazon.com], it was good for it's time - the K585 has quite a few more keys I now greatly appreciate.

It's almost like these were made specifically for laptops, so awkward trying to WASD in fps without them...

No, none of those are what i'm looking for. Perhaps i should just try going full custom? It would be a good amount of work though getting it coded/config'd

I had a vision of something like an old arcade game with smaller buttons.

well, just picture a round shaped body, slightly raised in the middle so it would better fit your hand, then two rows of 3 buttons to represent qweasd basically centered, then another 9 in an outer ring that would go from about 9-5 o'clock you could hit 9, 10, pinky, 11,12 ring, 1,2 middle, 3, 4 index, and 4,5 thumb, Skip the 6,7,8 slot as that would be the hand rest. think of it like a mini keyboard for people with big hands. :winter2019happybulb:

You would still have your keyboard if you wanted to bring up other menus or type or something, but it would be rather cool to have a semi arcade style system to use verse a classic keyboard for folks that dislike two handed controllers and prefer a mouse.

logitech g13 or similar keypads exist
those have programmable keys for anything, macros to keyboard/mouse or scripts and change profiles
that can do anything

or a short list of keypads from last year

I'd suggest the Skyloong GK21Pro kit[skyloongtech.com] and something like the a cheap hot-swappable gaming keyboard[www.amazon.com] from which you can rob keycaps and key switches, 'cause that's almost certainly going to be cheaper than buying them separately.

You may want have to research what keyboard to use for salvage 'cause there are different types of hot-swap sockets and you don't want to end up buying something with incompatible switches.

What do I like about the Skyloong? Well, the first is that the keys are programmable, so you can probably set WASD+Q/E/F to be on it without having to reconfigure all of your games. You might even consider flipping it sideways from how a numpad is supposed to be oriented so you get a wider row of keys.

The second is that it advertises a 1000 hz refresh rate and n-key rollover, which are the features which differentiate a gaming keyboard from an ordinary one. 1000 hz is a responsiveness thing, and n-key rollover allows you to press as many buttons as you need to at once without dropping inputs. If it doesn't have a good simultaneous key count and at least 1000 hz refresh, then it's not a "gaming keyboard" in any meaningful sense.

If it weren't for those features, I'd be suggesting some cheaper complete numpad. I don't actually own any Skyloong products so I can't vouch for them as a brand though.

P.S. I didn't notice before but they also sell the GK21Pro[skyloongtech.com] as a fully assembled product, so maybe just buy that instead of the goofery of trying to frankenstein one together from a full keyboard.
