Originalmente postado por Rexali_:
We have four types of hackers: black hats, gray hats, white hats, and script kiddies.

Ethical hacking is only used in the direction of providing security. It's like cops and thieves both use weapons, but for different purposes, and it's for deterrence.

So, depending on your ethical degree, it turns from black to white, like the gradient tool in CSS-3 and Photoshop. But script kiddies are the people who don't have network and computer knowledge and just want to do it for fun or disturbance. They don't have a computer specialty, like I said. They just learned a few tricks or codes to execute and fulfill their goal.

So, you want to become an ethical hacker. That means you want to choose computer and network engineering for your life career. So you should pass it's prerequisites first, which means passing Network + courses, which are theory, then network infrastructure courses, which are Cisco and MikroTic courses, then operating system courses, which are Windows Server and Linux, then security + courses, which are theory of security, and then participate in CEH and other security courses like Splunk.

If you don't want to become a network engineer and just want to do it for fun, then it's not ethical, and you are a script kiddie. You just need to learn a few tricks and execute some codes, but any harm you do on real websites or hosts will be against the cyber-security laws according to your country's rules.
I definitely want to stick with the white hat approach. I have no interest of disturbing my sleep with guilt. The reason why I'm interested in hacking Is because I believe I can achieve some good especially in the country I live in cuz I don't think there's a lot of computer security where I live and I feel like somebody has to approach it. And I was also inspired by Edward snowden's permanent record which also has me interested in cybersecurity. Now I'm not saying I'm going to become the next Edward Snowden but I'm saying that the importance of cyber security is just going to rise and it has to be taken more serious by countries and everybody really

My opinion might be an unpopular one. If you truly want to be a hacker of any kind, you start doing it and don't worry about what group you'll be a part of. That will work out over time.

Don't think about jobs or certs. Those are measurements for job related titles.

If you actually became a hacker then consider getting those to finish off your resume or something. As a real hacker, those certs would be unimpressive and what you have done, and can do and can offer someone in that realm should make someone desire your services and your skillset that make you stand out.
