Windows 11 update 24H2!!!

Hello,

I read on Google news that Windows 11 update 24H2 will not accept the old components anymore.
It's a big and real last prank from Microsoft.

w.e, you can't have a PC anymore anyways... so I bought a windows console... and they better not update it not to work.

Why asking instead of checking . Both support SSE 4.2 . Nevertheless you must use a workaround to install Win 11 . You know TPM required .

i did check amd specs site is very clear

intels site is not hence i asked

yes i use rufus so need to update to new versions manually as windows update wont update since im "unsupported" XD

You would need to download the Win11 ISO; then use the very latest version of Rufus.
Then when you click START it will popup asking which Win11 requirements you want to bypass, select all of them, aside from auto creation of a local user.

When you have created the Win11 USB with Rufus this way, the bypass made a secondary partition on the USB drive, THAT is the partition you need to boot from, not the normal one.

Then before doing a clean install, ensure Ethernet is disconnected, if WiFi is present, that should be fine, just do not connect to any WiFi network during the install; click "I do not have internet right now"

If you allow Win11 to connect Online during the install, it will force you to create / log in using a Microsoft account.

yes already use rufus both rigs are on 22h2 windows update wont update them to 23h2 so i have to install it manually

How about being a bit more constructive? You must have a SSE4.2 capable CPU by now?

I have a Ryzen 7 3700X CPU 3rd generation. About update of windows 11 I told you that I read on the web hardware and software news only.

just use cpu-z with this you can see the instructionsets of your processor

also there is a sse4.2 emulator out there if someone could inject that into windows itself and make a installer then in theory the only downside would be it is kinda slower then the real deal

Kernel-mode is a totally different animal, and pre-SSE4.2 CPUs aren't known for having decent hypervisor capabilities.

Linux will gain a lot new users. In fact I bet since the TPM requirement it did. I get Microsoft wants to improve security

In 2024, an estimated 4% of users globally are running Linux, it was only 3% in mid to late 2023, so the rate of growth for the Linux community is slowly starting to accelerate, it's the beginning of the end for Windows having near total domination over the home and professional operating systems space.

A large chunk of that has to do with the Steam Deck, which is just a testament to how much gaming in particular has improved on Linux. Eventually, game developers won't be able to ignore Linux support anymore.

Better to learn how to use these alternatives, unless you're totally fine being stuck with Microsoft and their antics.

I would hope that people who only care to use a numerical pin to log into their machine doesn't use it for anything important or financial, because it's quite stupid to do that even with a TPM, because TPM isn't foolproof in of itself and will inevitably be cracked as well. If it's something common, hackers will eventually find ways to crack it.

You never put anything that important behind basic passwords that can easily be cracked. It's worse than writing your password on a scrap of paper and taping it to your screen where anyone that walks by can see it.
