The only reason I haven't installed it yet was to find a download without an account. That was a bit of a hassle.
I know in our institutions they use it for online signatures, but I would say let's not look too much into them.

The latest version released just yesterday now includes Java 21 though.
Perhaps better than it ever has, although it's still demanding enough in it's infamous ways to bring even the fastest hardware to a crawl if you push the settings/conditions enough.
Well no one mentioned javascript and despite the confusing/misleading name Java and Javascript really have no relationship and nothing to do with each other. It was a stupid name Netscape up with to flim-flam Sun Microsystems a little bit. And aside from them both using C-like syntax that's about where the relationship ends.
The only time you mention Java and Javascript together is if your application is using both. Or to clear up the common misunderstanding about Java vs Javascript.
True story JRE is required for a few games including Sonic 4 Episode 1.
