PC restarts on its own or partially stops working
Hello!

Before taking PC to a workshop I just wanted to ask here if my assumptions can be correct and it might indeed be something with the Power Supply. So, the issue started to happen yesterday - when I was playing the game the PC partially stopped to work - the picture disappeared and coolers/fans (probably on GPU) started to work super loud (like when you turn off the PC and coolers/fans work very loud before it turns off). The PC was still working, motherboards RGB was on, etc, so I just turned it off by power button on electricity grid plug (or whatever it is called). It happened few times since then. Then there was something else - PC just randomly restarted few times. I tried to do stress test via MSI Kombuster and I checked MSI afterburner and all the temperatures are okay. PC worked for ~1H in stress test and nothing did happen. It so happens that I bought brand new Asus RTX 4070 Dual some weeks ago, before this I still had GTX 1060. My power supply is 700W, it's from Be Quiet! and is of gold standard BUT it is 5 years old.

I checked Windows Logs and found KernelPower error there - it happened many times and exactly when this issue with random restarts/partial turns off was happening.
Here is the link to Microsoft Help Center for this particular event (Nr. 41) - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-client/performance/event-id-41-restart

Scenario 3 looks fittin my case:

Scenario 3: The computer is unresponsive or randomly restarts, and Event ID 41 isn't recorded or the Event ID 41 entry or lists error code values of zero

I have PowerButtonTimestamp value set to 0. Microsoft says here the following:

"The PowerButtonTimestamp value is zero. This behavior might occur if you disconnected the power to a computer that wasn't responding to input. The following conditions might be the cause:

A Windows process blocked write access to the disk, and you shut down the computer by pressing and holding the power button for at least four seconds.
You disconnected the power to an unresponsive computer."(c)

I do not fully understand this. But it looks like the issue is related to power shortage or something.

and I tried what is written here when my fella gave me few advises - https://www.drivereasy.com/knowledge/solved-kernel-power-41-critical-error-on-windows-10/

I tried to do windows updates (btw they did stuck with error so I paused them), updated drivers and also I updated BIOS.

Perhaps hardware acceleration is related to it? But I turned it on few weeks ago but the issue started to happen only yesterday.

Most likely: power brownout or overheating.

Less likely: dying chipset or chronic driver crash.

there are no issues in the power grid in my home. The power is stable. What exactly do you mean? overheating is impossible - I checked temperatures via Afterburner.

Try backup PSU. Inspect current PSU for bulging capacitors or charring.

So, you are suggesting to check PSU as well. Thanks. I do not have backup PSU but I will figure something out.

I would suspect the PSU as well. But 700w should be enough to run the system with the new card.

I would go back through the PC and just make sure all of the power connections are secured. Maybe one is loose or not completely seated. Also check that the GPU is fully seated as well as the RAM. Sometimes we accidentally bump things out of place when we've got our hands in there.

I do not have tools to check PSU by testing voltages etc., but the people in workshop have them. Normally taking the whole PC there takes 2 weeks for them to give you answer what's happening. It is free of charge still but its just very long. I speak about a company which is a chain and is one of most reliable local companies for this services here. But perhaps I can just take the PSU to them and it will be much faster and also much easier in terms of logistics.

can be a few things

unstable oc
poor or overrated psu
drivers

start with undoing any oc, reset bios to defaults, keep xmp/docp disabled
and get the correct drivers, from oem site or mobo mfg site (chipset, audio, lan)
and update bios

And if PSU will appear to be ok, then it will start to be more interesting XD

I updated the BIOS and drivers. Do you suggest to turn off hardware acceleration? it's been few weeks as it is turned on. But the issue started to happen only yesterday.

And I do not do any OC.

post a cpuz validation link
http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html
cpuz -> validate button -> submit button
it will open a browser, copy the url (address) and paste it here

do not get drivers from windows update,
ms takes a guess and grabs compatible drivers, but never correct ones

The VRM of the mobo might have overheated or the GPU itself .
I would also :
Make sure the cables of the PSU are not close to any RAM or mobo chip . Reseat the GPU and the cables it uses .Make sure the 24 pin cable is well plugged in the mobo . Check for software issues .
cables seem to be ok. I had the issue happening again. This last time the PC went to sleep mode (according to Windowws System Logs) and did not want to go back from it, so I had to restart.

So, basically, it either restarts or goes to sleep mode. Now I know how to call it. All by itself.

Might enable V Sync and disable turbo of the CPU to lower the power draw for testing . Also does it happen when playing a certain game . I have 2 games - one without an additional software bluescreens the PC and the other AC Origins on closing freezes the whole PC after a long game play .
this happens any time, no matter what I do :-0
