He never said you HAVE to do the steam.cfg thingy. Just that people have been doing it even prior to the end of the client updates for Windows 7.

Watched it twice to be sure. Just pointing it out because I believe it's an honest mistake. Especially if you watched it with french subs.
i have now tested diablo 4 in windows 7 and it crash at startup. it goes straight into appcrash.

Steam System Survey show another drop on Win7 userbase in November.
Windows 7 64 bit ----- 0.21% (-0.07%)
https://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/Steam-Hardware-Software-Survey-Welcome-to-Steam

Also note Windows losed 0.05% and Linux gained 0.03%

Windows overall even decreased ever so slightly and it's only going to get worse for Mikeysoft once Windows 10 is completely cut off in about a year since quite a few might just go to Linux

hello

so i sugest you to watch it again , starting around 8:17

so here what he said exactly
"what appears to be an issue is a bump in the chromium support that fully drops support for windows 7, however however we're allready in this deep so you know that there is no way that some people are going to fully give up they are gonna try their absolute hardest to hold on to windows 7 so most aren't even anywhere this update because they've been modifying a config file to block steam from updating for quite a long time apparently'

Aye there is 2 stupidities into that :
- the first one is that the config file does not exist by default, it nead to be created inside the steam folder , you can check you steam folder and i seriously doubt you will find here a steam.cfg
- the second one is that people don't need this because like the changelog told us , this update won't be apply to the windows 7 users. And this is the case , you can try to force update under your steam client with the check for update feature, it won't download the update release the 5th using cef 126.

this is what i get after i use the check for update on the top left of my steam client and there is no use of the steam.cfg for that ....
And also welcome and say hello for me to slowmango xd
i've posted this from the current steam from the screenshot

language barrier rolf ( back to my current steam so .... )

Im still on September update with update blocking config file enabled.

Steam Beta Branch: Stable Client
Steam Version: 1726604483
Steam Client Build Date: Tue, Sep 17 23:03 UTC -08:00
Steam Web Build Date: Tue, Sep 17 01:12 UTC -08:00
Steam API Version: SteamClient021

Worth to update to latest update? What came after the non-win7 update as surprise.
I readed the Update note but I cant see any significant or worthwhile upgrade.

https://steamcommunity.com/games/593110/announcements/detail/4480613067569233924?snr=2___

Or the surprise Win7 update is something hidden not mentioned on update note? I see on bidulless screenshot that Client date is November 8, not 12.

hello
aye ,)
you do not need to use steam.cfg as the cef 126 won't be downloaded and apply like shown in my screenshot. This update has been done after a post from @master.constructor , glad he posted that a new update was available because i do not use my sandboxed steam very often ,just to test stuff or answer to bulshiters like today ...
https://i.postimg.cc/zBDb8N4H/Capture.jpg
using check for update with my current steam and a steam.cfg
"les mises à jour du client steam ont éte désactivées par une option de lancement"

and keep in mind that the cef 126 has been released the 5th november

90 go that's a nice baby xd
my windows 10 desktop have rtx 2080 ti and i7-8700k. my HP desktop however also meets minimum requirements in terms of hardware. the gtx 650 ti boost is stronger than the gtx 660. the i7-2600 is better than the i5-2500k. i just tested it and it is the first game to require windows 11.

the newer builds of steam still works in windows 7 compatibility mode so, if you somehow manage to get steam updated to the latest build in windows 7, it should still work.

He still never said that people have to do it.

That's the mistake I was pointing at. Not this thing you wrote.
