Google's Android OS is also an open-source OS originally based off a modified version of the Linux kernel, and almost half of all users of an OS in the world use Android, so they should really be grilling Google over that and not something stupid like Google Chrome, which anyone with actual knowledge of browsers knows is a terrible browser, as is basically any browser that uses certain Google services.
hello
and what does it mean for google to sell chrome exactly ....
It would mean handing off the source code for Chrome (since it's closed-source even though it's based on FOSS code) to another developer, however, it won't really change anything, there's no reason to use Chrome specifically over another Chromium browser like Brave, DuckDuckGo, ungoogled-chromium, or Vivaldi. Or really any variant of Firefox.

DOJ is just scared of one corporation having too much power online, and they should be, corporations like Google and Microsoft are literal Satan

Yes, Chrome is just a specific browser managed by Google, it doesn't even matter if they're forced to get rid of it because they can just make another one, so that shouldn't be the DOJ's goal, it should be to force Google to change Chrome so it isn't full of Google spyware and junk.

Chrome is just based on Chromium, which is a free and open-source project, many individuals and teams have made browsers based on it. There are also frameworks like CEF (shocker), Electron, and Qt WebEngine that embed a Chromium browser as the functional core of custom applications.

Closed-source Chromium browsers include: Vivaldi, Arc, DuckDuckGo, Edge, Opera, Samsung Internet, Yandex, etc.

FOSS Chromium browsers include: Brave, Falkon, Konqueror, qutebrowser, and ungoogled-chromium.
Sidenote: This cool Vampire Survivor, Brotato kind Free game using Electron.

hello
but it's still chromium under the hood as say by the html file from it folder
as an fyi for anyone here who plays civ 5/6 (while the comments are about a game) or others games from 2k, anywho they are retiring their crappy adware launcher and "removing" it from all their games.

though the link i was reading had Q&A's and one mentions the launcher files still being in the game files.

so they might just be disabling it and basically leaving their "digital litter" on your pc, in the hopes you clean up after them :cqlol:

anywho, im glad to be rid of it and dont have to bypass it anymore, here is to hoping for more of those launchers from others to follow suit.

edit: also, seems (likely old news) microsoft is phasing out the use of kernel for anticheats, good news for linux and everyone else who hates those intrusive anticheats (kernel level ones).

wonder what solution devs come up with and what they will do with linux users (some of those devs seem to hate linux lol).

Windows 10 is basically guaranteed to be getting the co-pilot whether or not people want it
A&A 2024年11月20日 21時55分
Yep.
I also don't want the OS to do anything without my permission.

lol... At this point just give me the source code of the OS to recompile it :D
