True as that may be, most people know exactly what they want. Reliability, user friendly experience and lots of speed.
Let's not retroactively blame 'the users' for MS's continuous bad decision making.
Microsoft wouldn't have gotten where it did if it wasn't for consumers, corporations don't just get big and greedy on their own. It wasn't difficult to predict that Microsoft would get like this, people just refuse to listen.

Well the PC community been pushing the switch to Linux come-back line since early 2000s. I still don't see Linux as a total replacement until it gets better with Games. It's an option for many, just not for me, not when comes to Gaming. Not when so many more games need a WinOS based Launcher or using Microsoft Store /Xbox apps. Worldwide you maybe have what like 2% of Gamers using Linux. Not counting Steam Deck

It's coming, the performance is mostly there, it just needs more developer support

Microsoft is where it is because of their in-house decisions.
Blaming customers is a foolish thing to do.

If the game makers could stop making these 3rd party launchers and also anti-cheat installers (since you can embed an anti-cheat into the game files, why have an installer for this) that would really help those games be more Linux friendly

hello
no unfortunately because even if doing what you suggest, it won't make game linux native ....
And even with proton that "émulate" windows 50% of the time it beat windows in term of perf so i let you imagine what really can happen if games could have been native coded for linux and do not need proton and such for that ....

most companies do not want to spend time compiling for linux. over time however they might prioritise it, as linux gains popularity compared to windows.

With Proton as I heard games dont need to be Linux Native. Some said Proton often handle it better than the half baked Native support.

Incorrect. They didn't just get there because they chose to, they were allowed to get there because consumers and government didn't try to stop them.

They wouldn't have become so wealthy if they didn't have a marketable platform.

There are plenty of instances where there's barely any or literally no loss in performance under Proton, some of my games have ran with better performance under Proton on Linux than they did on Windows, others ran just as well.

All depends on the implementation and your distro, choosing a distro with older packages that isn't targeted purely at performance will result in less performance than Windows.
