I might give VanillaOS a spin eventually. But, CachyOS is pretty comfy.

endevour and garuda are downloaded more for arch, but im pretty sure everyone is already moving to cachy because it used to be lower on that list.

endevour and garuda are failed early access programs in my eyes lol
I love Endeavour thought. It's a very well put together distro that does not overdo it.

Pop!_OS is usually one of the better options for recent gaming hardware for beginners, especially when using GeForce GPUs because it has an NVIDIA installer option

COSMIC is coming in full force as well which has improvements over GNOME

mageia, solus and alma are way better alternatives to POP now. pop is another failed EA program.

Thanks for site recommendation.
Interresting that MX Linux is higher than Mint in last 12 month.

i put mx, antix and mint on my stupid ignore list but thats just my prefereances.

no need for antix, id use fedora instead for every reason
Okay but I never used any Linux before. I want an easy migration from Win7 when times come this is why I choosed Linux Mint as my 1st one. Also I already love it Cinnamon environment.

I wouldn't pay much attention to odd hardline stances on what is and isn't a good Linux distro, use whatever you want and don't let people try to shame you for it

thats why i was trying to sell you Vanilla OS.

the fact that you never used linux before makes vanilla a better option than mint. seriously, less clicks, more stuff.

vanilla by the time your done first time setup you have lutris flatpak and flatseal built-in, NATIVE!

but at the end of the day im just selling my fav distro i want it to take off. youll do fine with mint good luck. i remember you can always buy a $60 hard drive from walmart and have BOTH :steamhappy:

Yeah, Cosmic might very well be my future desktop. I love KDE but the whole tiling thing and how they are integrating it into cosmic is very interesting to me.
I hate GNOME, so it doesn't really change much for me
hello
the little problem i see about all that is we are talking about different flavor of linux , using ubuntu, debian , redhat or fedora with a different desktop and ui when , well, in fact we do not really care imo.
all we should care is whine and proton and the drivers ( amd or nvidia but also other for nve or usb3.x) rest is just "candy' and cosmetic ...

Because it's literally just Arch Linux with a GUI installer under a different name, there's nothing actually unique about it that it brings to the table other than the name.

Garuda is Arch with a bunch of performance optimizations applied, all of which can be done on almost any distro through repositories like the AUR.
CachyOS has the same optimizations but adds further optimizations of its own, several kernel variants, kernel scheduling controls, etc. so there's actually something substantial to work with there, it's less work to get Arch running its best when you just go with Cachy

odd hardline stances

ive said it was my opinion many times now, why is that odd?

my odd hardline was keepig it in the top 50 of the dirstrowatch list... IF YOU ARE NEW TO LINUX AD LOOKING FOR SOMETHING EASY TO USE LIKE WINDOWS

thats more or less a fact. and when i say more or less. i mean more.

More or less yeah, but some environment while look cool it so different from Windows that I think the 1st should be Mint (atleast for me). Also knowing my lazyness I will settle in Mint for rest of my life. :D

Your odd hardline stance has nothing to do with the top 50, it's that you call multiple distros "failed early access programs" but don't give any compelling reasons why they're bad and why people should choose other distributions.

There's nothing inherently wrong with EOS, Garuda, Pop!_OS, Mint, any of them, and a lot of people love them, there are better options but that's all relative and it doesn't mean that the others aren't good.
hello
from my point of view , you are focussing a way to much on ui ... when it's not a problem .. just click on icon and it run the tool behind ,even in cosmid, gnome, kde, cinamon etc ....

yeah that part was odd my bad :steamhappy:

but my opinion of endevour and garuda is the same as yours. i do like how garuda has all the dragon effects built-in right from the install because i would never waste a second of my life looking them up. :steamfacepalm:
