it's not like I'm promoting Windows 7 in a linux-thread.
Maybe you should try doing that. Most people that still use Windows 7 today think it's important that everyone on the internet knows that they still use Windows 7 by mentioning it almost everywhere in many different places on the internet. It seems like a popular thing this year.
I just speak for myself. More people should try that, don't you think?

LOL is he mocking you about that Win7 users are entitled and spread it everywhere?
Still he and others come here for no other reasons just arguing.
Ironic, isnt it?

Glad I blocked him and only see his comment when some of you quote.

ALL users are entitled to a private and ad-free user experience that's free of unnecessary junk slowing down the system, and that's exactly why Linux will always be around and Microsoft will eventually face retribution in the form of users revolting against them and doing whatever they can to stop the adpocalypse that Windows is headed towards.

7 may be unsupported but it's still arguably better than 11 and rendered 8 obsolete on release

While you are right, how this connect to what Shaggin said about Win7 users?

Update: Maybe I used bad word with entitled.

While he didn't use those words exactly, he probably does think that Windows 7 users on the internet are acting like they're entitled to keep using Windows 7.

Rather common sentiment, given the age of the OS and the fact that ESU was dropped four and a half years ago for all relevant versions that are usable on home machines. From the outside in, it looks like it has a cult following and annoys them even though they aren't forced to look anywhere near it or participate. But I think in Shaggin's case it just irks him when people don't do exactly as he says and listen to every opinion he has as if it's the gospel of Christ.

It's not all that different from previous editions being killed off, it's just more pronounced with the internet being more connected and highly vocal nowadays, there's still a lot of people using 98, XP, etc. machines for recreation and there was never REALLY a reason to kill off all support aside from just corporations not wanting to spend money continuing support for something that wasn't going to support the software and games of tomorrow.

Well, I think Win7 users not much more entitled than anyone else who use an OS what they desire (Win10,11, Linux). I think the problem is when we dare to say that we use this old OS then others get triggered and think that we are spread it. Should we shame it and dont dare to talk about it to not trigger others? Are we lessen ppl than those who use more modern OS?

Like I said, all users are entitled to/deserve a private and ad-free experience, Windows 10 and 11 don't give you that and it's only going to get worse, and it occasionally bleeds over even into some Linux versions as well like with Ubuntu a long time ago but that was more of an Amazon thing.

For some it just annoys them that users of unsupported operating systems are so vocal and all over the internet, they would rather them be silent because they don't want to see any of it. Not like it matters, one of these days some of those people will be in the same shoes whining about Windows 10 or 11 being killed when later versions of Windows are even worse.

Well using something old and for us working made us become cult. They dont even try to understand, it agains their common belive so it must be bad and purged.
Well we are more loud as Win7 users are more attacked than those even more old OS users.
Well I agree on what you said. Windows ended with 7 for me. Linux Mint will be my next.

Windows 7 is in that grey area where it isn't old enough to be viewed with a degree of nostalgia and respect that 98 and XP get, that's pretty much why aside from the people that do rage about Microsoft just killing support even though they extended support for it long after they originally planned on doing so, it's the people that are always making new threads or posts all over the internet complaining about the lack of official support only a few years after it was dropped that are souring things for people, but it's a small vocal minority in are probably just trolling

It's a bit like the Ricky Gervais-joke:
"Man walks through the street and sees a sign 'Guitar lessons.'
He steps in and starts shouting angrily" No! No! I don't want guitar lessons!"

Back to the thread .-)

Please do not "Assume" I said something and then insert words that I did not say, did not write, and never wrote. That is very damn rude and quite offensive.
some windows 7 users have actually experienced a forced update to windows 10. i read some posts about that online.

Here's one link, untested, beware, I do not vouch for it: https://softmany.com/directx-12/
This is basically just dxwebsetup.exe. Doesn't give anything new in terms of DirectX because it's just that file.

As I said I lost the link a couple of years back, I had it in 2022, I think it was "DX-12 on Win 7" but I do not remember which site I got it from. Sorry about the wrong link.
