I only rum 7 in VMWare (also because my hardware can't run it natively) but lately my primary dev box is a Windows 11 24H2 VM.
Surelly as most w10+ vulnerability also affect older os.Just check current jokecompany cve repport.

Windows Wi-Fi Driver CVE-2024-30078

Time to format it once more and re-install Mint.
By chance, have you tryed bazzite ?
I understand no worry, just wanted to have some feedback about it if you had some.
But, to give PROPER feedback I'd have to install it bare-metal and not in a VM. Because, y'know, it's kinda dumb to test drive a performance/gaming distro in a VM. Will never give an accurate picture of what the OS is capable of.
I -might- do it. If anything because it seems to be based on Fedora. Just like Nobara did, it got my curiosity. :P
But, TBH, I'm not expecting anything special here. I doubt there will be much of a difference with another gaming-centered distro.
If you want a solid choice for gaming and are not afraid of learning a few things, CachyOS would be my pick. Of all the distros I tried, it gave me the best performance out of the box. The only reason I use Garuda instead is that CachyOS seems to hate my hardware. As in, some modifications they did seems to not go along well with my laptop. Keep having weird issues with it and I can't be arsed to troubleshoot that ♥♥♥♥ straight after a fresh install.
I prefer something that works fine from the get-go. If it breaks later down the line, at least I'll have a decent idea of how/why it broke instead of the random ass issues I had.
Windows 6.1 is not rude, Windows 6.1 is a fact.
Windows 6.1 has better support than 6.0, 6.2 and 6.3. It's a shame in some ways but I am very thankful for it (UpdatePack7).
thx @Thermal Lance, allready noted cachyos and andevouros into my test list on real env not vm when i will switch
For those looking for stability rather than performance, an LTS release distro would be the primary choice over a rolling release/bleeding edge distro like Pop!_OS
