But if the past is kinda like the Corsair XTM70 it doesn't spread well if you got a pea size drop in the middle, I like to spread that stuff around and make a layer on both the GPU and CPU so there is no spot that didn't get covered.
I've been using some Thermal Grizzly Extreme paste and stuff spreads really easy, a pea size drop in the middle will spread it around on its own when you mount the cooler, can still spread it, but I find it more of a waste of time and paste.
But you got a threadripper CPU, I probably would always opt to spread it evenly or at most make an x pattern on it.
that's about right, though i like to spread it a bit verse use the clasisic circle, you get more area contact, but the amount is about right.. Perhaps instead of a green pea, maybe a large chick pea.
OP, Basically you just want a thin layer that covers the whole contact area with out squeezing out the side. If it does wipe it up. Personally i don't use the metalic stuff as i don't want to run the risk of a short. It's also not needed
amount wise, your only using a little bit of the tube, it might be a gram. I never weighed it, but a small tube will do 5-6 comps or replacements easy.
if your not overclocking which i don't do as i don't find the need, it really doesn't mater, just use a decent paste. besides you most likely are going to clean the inside of your comp at some point anyway, just redo the paste then. Which reminds me, I need to do that myself.
