Second monitor 144hz problem
I got a new monitor that is AOC CU34G2X/BK, My pc MSI GP66 Leopard 10UE, it does not have a display port so I can only connect my monitor through HDMI cable. I only get 100hz where I should get 144hz, would an adapter from hdmi to display port work? Or is there any other solutions? Tried the display settings things same results, can't get 144 from nowhere. Or should i just refund the monitor? xd

Get a USB-C to Displayport cable or dock.
Try adding a custom resolution/hz at 144hz?

The monitor only supports 100Hz over HDMI.

should be a function, that works. if it sux all the time, try sending it back. it may not be the real thing, they told you. though i didnt try 144 hz dual monitoring. best might be two same monitors, what would be strange? what is the maximum hz your monitors can run at? i cant say.
the whole thing seems to be possible, maybe nvidia/amd hype^^
what was your single monitor setup? how mach hz? with or without gfx v-sync?
just tell us something maybe?

c-jah..

er...just give us your whole hardware setup information!
would be good in first place...

To add on.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI#Refresh_frequency_limits_for_standard_video

https://www.msi.com/Laptop/GP66-Leopard-10UX/Specification
GP66 Leopard 10UE
1x HDMI™ 2.1 (4K @ 60Hz)

The monitor does claim HDMI 2.0, and from that table on the wikipedia page even though 3440x1440p isn't listed explicitly it is between 2560x1440p and 3840x2160p and you'd be getting pretty close to being limited to 100hz or 120hz just by eyeballing things. The monitor may not have a 120hz profile and might not be capable of that or is just limited to 100hz because min-maxing the hdmi output wasn't their concern.

I don't think a displayport adapter would help things since the monitor itself is limited and adapters aren't used to increase performance, just increase compatibility.

Either accept 100Hz or get another monitor, adapters don't fix limitations with the monitor itself

...in any case would this fix a problem, but 144 hz/ dual monitoring shuld work with amd/nvidia. they said its real. i have been reading. dunno why.

The Laptop needs to be able to out from the GPU to DP via USB Type-C

Or offer a Mini-DP port.

Otherwise HDMI 2.0 is what you are limited to.

You do not want to do dual external Monitors though.

An HDMI2.1 to DP1.4 cable is expensive, but they do say they work, so you could try it.
You could try buying one from Amazon and return it if it doesn't work.

The problem is you are going to have a real issue finding a monitor that you like that also supports HDMI 2.1

Personally, I would just live with the 100Hz limit. There isn't much difference between 100Hz and 144Hz.

I don't know about the USB-C, I would ask the laptop manufacturer about that. That may be the cheapest solution.

Those will not work for converting and allowing the available high refresh rate and possibly some other options. The Laptop must have a USB Type-C that supports DP output. You should be looking for the Laptop to have that before you even buy it. HDMI is for low refresh rate stuff; 60Hz Monitor, TV, Projector.

Yes they can. There are several on Amazon that will give 144Hz at 3440x1440.

if the usb c port is for usb data only, it will not work for displays

if the monitors hdmi limit is 1440p 100hz, you need to use its dp for 1440p 144hz

https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/aoc/cu34g2x
Max Refresh Rate Over HDMI = 100 Hz
