Qhats wrong with your GPU?
Mayne its time to take it apart, clean it fully and apply new paste.
make one be a storage system... just do it
drop the cpu between them both while liquid cooled.... just do it
If Nintendo is going to roll out a new system announcing this year and catches up to your gpu buy one of those.
The always swap in a new fan(s) do full wipe of drivers and then get every single one and go oen by one seeing which one just does it.
Clearly air dusting toothbrush floss and pick the entire thing clean revamped versions of thermal paste removal solutions and then sell it with a tube of brand new thermal paste for someone else to do.
384 bit 12GB for under 500 sounda bout right.
Much better value.
4060ti would also be an downgrade
3070 would be about the same performance
(though the 8gb vram vs 11 of the 2080ti does make that game dependant)
that said your current cpu IS already underpowered and a bottleneck for your current cpu.
(as I presume 1440p with such a system?)
3070ti and up
and 4070 and up
would be an upgrade
but as stated your current cpu already has a bottleneck with an 2080ti... let alone anything more powerfull..
(that is without serious overclock of that cpu, which I presumed you did to resolve that issue)
if you are out to save money...
a 3070 can do.. can be had new for 300 euro...
a 4060ti is a small downgrade as said and will set you down 400 euro.. but it does have more ram if you pick the correct version.
If you are willing to switch teams.. an radeon 6750 can be had for 350.. has 12 gb of vram.. and is equal in performance as that 3070... and your current 2080ti..
that is ofcourse without looking to the 2d hand market. which might save you even more
if it were me in your shoes.. I'd just grab that 6750.. and be done with it.
And like I said, you can find 3080 10GB and 12GB brand new for under $500
But how old is your 2080 Ti? Mine are still under warranty. To which would get replaced by a current-day GPU if I replace them under warranty.
It can malfunction or maybe software or settings are to blame for its performance; but general wear... no it's not really a thing with electronics. Sure, Drives can "wear" out, but things like RAM, CPU, GPU... no, not really.
We don't even know the prices yet. Probably going to be like $2000 just for RTX 5080; considering that GPU will be replacing the 4090 and won't take up nearly as much space.
Good point. Lets all get 4090s when the 50xx series are launched.
If the 5080 is better and smaller, who in their right mind would even want a 4090.
Also you'd might want to consider a 4070 or 4070ti or better to actually see performance gains, a 4060ti is ok, but its around the same speed but at less power draw, it will have better Ray tracing and DLSS performance of course. AMD 7800xt is pretty decent upgrade, cheaper most of the time, a 6900xt or 6950xt if you want to save a bit of cash, but they are older and no raytracing goodness.
Do not allow Windows Updates to update your drivers.
You can choose an older Driver for NVIDIA GPU here:
https://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx
Just ensure it's a Game Ready Driver.
