Will you be upgrading to ROG ally x?

I am not completely sold on the idea since its a price hike for little benefit and since Ive spent over 1.4k on one of them ( console day 1 @ 699, 2tb 2230, case, hard case, 5x 512gb msd ) and my other ally is stock. there is not enough detail yet I think, if you could just upgrade the ally v1 battery would be enough.

i still don't see a reason to buy anything other then the steam deck when it comes to handheld PC's, the battery life on it's competitors are garbage, you get like an hour on anything demanding. Also you have to use windows.

Then, the specs on these are alright but they still can hardly handle 1080p gaming.
yet they all seem to have 1080p screens for some reason, so you end up having to lower the resolution making the 1080p screen rather pointless for the most part in games.
there's a reason the deck only has a 1280x800p screen.

all in all, when they finally figure out their own software, battery and give it proper hardware for it's screen resolution. Maybe the deck will have some real competition... but atm
the deck is the only one that makes any sense to buy.

If i wanted a handheld i would buy the steam deck. Windows is just terrible for a handheld.

The problems with deck is the limited compatibility, sure you can install epic etc after alot of faffing around and the limitations are major sometimes, whereas the ally, claw, legion go can easily be manipulated to get more juice from it not to mention messing around with windows has its advantage.
To start with on resident evil 2 remake I was getting 17 fps which sucked, put it to all low and got 56-59 but still sucked to me. Custom firmware and now im playing it at medium settings stable 110-120 fps. I love the deck dont get me wrong but in terms of battery the ally x will dominate bat time.

i am never buying anything ROG again. i tried several pcs and all of them kept crashing daily.

Alot of people say that about asus but never had any issues with anything myself. My builds usually are asus based, mobo,gpu. The worst admittedly is armoury crate. ATM I'm running 11 pcs with asus builds never had a single problem.

No. Its the opposite. The compatibility is the greatest strength of the deck. Most people have all of their games on steam, and steam games are most compatible with the deck.

Compatibility is fine. The only games which consistently have issues are those with intrusive DRM and anti-cheat, pretty much everything else just works.

For Epic and GoG there are third party clients such as MinGalaxy and Heroic which make installing and playing games very easy.

I'll buy a Switch eventually, or whatever comes after that. I haven't played any Nintendo releases since about 2013

As for a daily portable for pc games? Eh. I would rather draw, or read, or something else. I stare at enough screens already lol

Has nothing to do with it being an Asus. Either your hardware is deffective or your OS bricked. Happens to all manufacturers.

not to toshiba or HP. my toshiba laptop never crash, nor do my HP desktop. my toshiba have been running for months. last time it was shut down was because of a street wide power outage. i actually checked that and every house in my street was out of power. my HP desktop ran for months but, it got so much internet connection problems that it could no longer connect so, i chose to shut it down. its network card is a bit unstable and so is its sound card. it does not cause crashes however, i just lost sound and connection.

Once again, brand means little. They all use the same components and are build to the same spec.

Hardware failure or software issues can happen to any machine irrelevant of manufacturer.
