I've been advised to advise anyone shilling Brave or Opera to let them know about their shortcomings, in this case https://www.spacebar.news/stop-using-brave-browser/

Firefox is just as bad. If you are really concerned about your privacy you shouldn't be using any big browsers in their default state.

You can post 100 links and try to give "advice" but I will always use my 6 years of experience using brave to make a decision. Sometimes ill open chrome or edge with the same site loaded just to see the difference in ads and load times. It's eye opening to see how bad the internet is on awful browsers.

Why would a webstie be able to close your tabs? Sounds sketchy to me, if a website did it to me I'm not sure I would trust it. Might be malicious.

That said, I also use a Firefox + NoScript + Ublock Origin combination, so that might block this kind of thing and I just haven't noticed sites doing it for that reason.

Does NoScript exist for Edge? That might solve the issue, maybe.

EDIT:

Perhaps you should check the website with VirusTotal:
https://www.virustotal.com/gui/home/url

Of course, it's not guaranteed to catch a malicious site, but if you want to check it's one way to do it.
