how to prevent some ads ridden websites from closing tabs in edge?
i dunno why it even possible for a website to do it, should be done only by user....

Well it starts by just stop using Edge.
Use Firefox, Chrome or Brave; along with good extensions such as No-Script, Google Opt-Out as well as Ublock Origin

I would also download MalwareBytes and run a full system scan + root kit detection.

Avoid going to malicious websites...

Detected...
Seclookup: Malicious
alphaMountain.ai: Suspicious

Classified...
- Peer-to-Peer (P2P)
- Piracy/Plagiarism
- Scam/Illegal/Unethical
- Piracy

Note it hosts malicious illegal files, including an Ad Blocker:
https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/d608b05c098b8336447f53d097bcdbed44719b1e7bcc62053d934c3160bfb49f

Those files are infected with malware.

There are also Trojan script shells on the webpage links:

Bitcoin miner viruses, etc.

The download manager has a backdoor Trojan too.

I would strongly recommend getting a legit anti-virus app, such as BitDefender, Spybot or MalwareBytes, from a trusted source to full scan and disinfect your PC.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1337x
The site is banned from Google search queries and does not appear when searching through Google search.[1][3] This action was taken following a DMCA complaint

yep... stop visiting / using dodgy virus sites.

mans, the question is very specific, don't answer unless you have an answer.
i need to disable this option for a website to close a tab in browser, edge, not chrome or firefox.
i don't care about everything else.
replacing addblock plus with uBlock origin solved it for 1337x, but problem remains and will be abused eventually by some ♥♥♥♥♥ website.

The website itself is designed with malicious scripts to open/close tabs.

You would want to disable Javascript or use the NoScript plugin on your web-browser, yet that might also deny your access to it's content.

disabling Javascripts makes site unusable... same with NoScript.

Browsers usually will also have a Setting that allows any clicked links or redirects to open within a new browser tab.

If you are on a website and need to force a new tab easily when clicking a link (this even works within Steam Client's browser or web browser with Steam Overlay) is to hold down CTRL key, then left-click. As some websites simply do not allow you to right click things.

CTRL + Left Mouse Click = Open link in New Tab
SHIFT + Left Mouse Click = Open link in New Window

That's what I said and likely how the malicious site is designed too.

I would also suggest checking your Web-browsers plugins/extensions haven't been hijacked by that website...

Not sure why OP would be asking for help with an illegal website on Steam, a platform for legitimate software.

You'd be surprised. People have made threads in these forums before asking all sorts of stuff; like even where to download emus and ripped games; etc.

People were asking in the Red Dead 2 forum about Emus and ripping RDR1; or where to download ripped RDR2 so they can play Story Mode without Rockstar Launcher.

Nothing would surprise me. But Steam does have rules. Those rules set by Valve/Steam are not always followed in other sub-forum sections though. Usually due to lack of Moderating.

Calling them "emus" seems to suggest a lot too...

Also I don't see how Chrome would be much different than Edge, security-wise, as it is pretty much a skin of Chromium with some Microsoft bits added on, and it can even run Chrome extensions from the Chrome Web Store.
As for Brave it would seem they have a few skeletons in their closet - https://www.spacebar.news/stop-using-brave-browser/

I still do not understand what your questions are.
Ads are auto-closing your other browser tabs?
What ads, if you are seeing ads on websites, that's a USER problem, which means you don't have the browser properly configured along with proper extensions.

I don't get ads on most websites, or even YouTube.

And please, remove Edge from your life, and all your devices.

Which websites exactly?
Omega Jun 2, 2024 @ 4:46am
Start by not using malicious websites such as the piracy one you mentioned. These career pirates tend to be nasty greedy people who cryptomine in your browser or demand donations for the "Service" they provide. The website being plain malicious should say enough, them having a financial incentive makes them career criminals and can not be trusted.

To avoid this stuff from random websites you may stumble upon use Firefox and install Ublock Origin, Adblockers under Chrome and most Chromium-based browsers have limited functionality.

Edge is perhaps the worst internet browser amongst all internet browsers
