It would be not directly next to the PC but in one room, not far away..
I never had a air humidifier, but I think the moist air will reach every corner of the room..
I would invest in a computer case that has very fine mesh to catch all the dust

warm air holds more moisture than cold air. any object that is cooler than the air can collect humidity from the air. if its colder outside, dont open a window near your computer. place your pc in a place where it wont get colder than the rest of the air in the room, mabye up from the floor a bit and not under a window where it might be cooler. if you go close to 100% relative humidity condensation can occur regardless as the air cant hold more water. try to keep the temerature in the room constant. i wouldent go above 70% RH and place the humidifier so that the steam dont get sucked directly into your pc and it should be fine. even if some parts in your pc will get hot, other may be cool due to fans etc and may collect water if the circumstances are right. if in doubt placing a hygrometer near your pc may be a good idea.
