Just got a new SSD hard drive but how to check the reading/writing speed?
No I'm not talking about task manager.
I ordered it as it reads 5000 Mbps and task manager can't confirm if the maximum is 5000
I just want to confirm that I got the right order and didn't get scammed

The manufacturer might provide a SMART/benchmarking tool. Otherwise, https://crystalmark.info/en/

did you run the program though by clicking on "all" at the top left corner, it then will proceed to run write/read tests and tell you the speeds

And you are speaking about /M.2NVME SSDs and not a normal 2,5 SSD?

Run CrystalDiskMark via DiskMark64.exe

Select a test file size (such as 1GB)
Note the drive letter for which you are testing.

Then click the ALL button to run all of the tests using that 1GB (or other size you select) test file size. Approx 1GB or larger is good to get more accurate results with the Read & Write speeds.

Wait for the test to complete. You will know it's done when all of the STOP buttons turn back into the original buttons again.

Oh I see. I downloaded the wrong app which was CrystalDiskInfo. I'll share the results once it's over since I can't understand what's goin on rn

Those speeds require PCI-E Gen 4, do you have the drive plugged into a Gen 4 NVME slot?
CrystalDiskInfo tells you all about your drives, SMART table results, drive health and alike.

What exact model of SSD and Motherboard do you have?
Once in WinOS, did you install all the latest drivers for everything? Such as the Chipset.

Nearly 2GB\s is still blazing fast, unless you're copying over massive files you wont really notice a difference between that and your drive at full speed, certainly not in gaming anyway.
You can use PowerShell Admin: :sadisthappy:

winsat disk -drive (letter here)
