Windows 11 and gaming
I am going to build my new AMD rig today finally and need to know, win10 or win11?
This is a mostly gaming pc but I do other daily things on it as well.
I tried to search but since you can't search by sub forum anymore, I made this thread.

So how is win11 for gaming currently?

I will also be dual booting windows with Linux Mint Edge.

win 10, i don't see a point in win 11 for amd system. For an intel CPU with e-cores it worth to use win 11 due to OS scheduler, which loads cores appropriately.

In my opinion, either one. Both are mature by now. Games open somewhat faster in 11 and run somewhat more smoothly, plus game mechanics are usually (not always) more responsive. I just don't like Windows 11 for other reasons.

It's really a user-based conclusion for 11 versus 10.

I would go with Windows 10 which will give you the option to upgrade to 11 if the components are compatible. Bear in mind though that Windows 10 will only be supported until Oct 2025.

Ya, that was the other reason for putting together a new build this year.
My cpu came out early last year, so no issues with compatibility.

Seems like Win11 has a tiny bit better performance.

Make a choice, both about equal but going forward new games are going to favour win 11. No-one is going to produce new software for win 10 because despite its popularity its at end of life.

Arch is better for the actual hardware and performs better than W11, something like Mint is better for older systems and stability for novices rather than raw performance

Windows 11 is basically the same as W10. However given W10 has year left before support ends. Go Windows 11

W11 is highly bugged and glitched since its 22H2 / 23H2 update ...

So use W10 until W11 receives its 24H2 major update later this year ...

Can you name these bugs?

According to the Linux Mint website, the Edge version is the one for the most modern hardware.

Edge is the same as regular Cinnamon, it just ships with a newer kernel

Mint is often the first one people try but if you end up wanting a better Linux experience, Arch is better than Ubuntu, I started with Mint Cinnamon and it was just underwhelming

This will be my very first time using anything but windows. I might not even like it.

So quick OT question: I am mounting the mboard but 2 preinstalled offsets will not let the board screws tighten. The other 6 did fine and the board is not loose by any means.
One is the bottom right corner, other is left side above the bottom left screw mount.
There should be no issue correct as it is all tight?
