Yep. in 4K the GPU will be doing the lion`s share of work anyway.
That’s interesting. I know we don’t know the specs yet, but I do wonder if a 5090 would bottleneck my CPU at 4K.
What part the bottleneck is, and by how much, constantly varies (as it's workload dependent).
You're better off not worrying about the overemphasized buzzword of the 2020s, because it can not be avoided. It's only time to worry if performance is below your desired levels, and if it is, then you find out what the bottleneck is and upgrade it.
With an RTX 3080, I don't think anything short of an RTX 4090 is worth it (and even that I think is pretty questionable given pricing). But since this is 4K, sometimes every little bit matters, and the RTX 4080/7900 XTX might be worth looking into if you find your current performance too low.
