I brought consoles as an example that you don’t need a powerful hardware to benefit from 4K screens. Same for 1440p vs 1080p.
I currently have a 7900XTX and even without DLSS 4K looks fantastic. FSR/Xess/TSR are catching up while DLSS at 4K is like magic and basically free performance. People may not appreciate DLSS at 1440p where the best they can do is to upscale from a mere 960p.
I however agree that the bigger the screen, the better. Going for just 27’ inches for single players games may indeed be too small and 4K wouldn’t make enough difference.
I would get a RTX 4070 TS (Ti-Super) instead . . .
I just really not like consoles..
I am an old gamer..
back from when each console had their own games no multiplatform stuff
and when the pc was miles ahead games vs console.
also when games were still sold in fysical shops and pc games had over 3000 titles filling the entire store.. while the 7!! different consoles in the market only had halve a rack with like 60 titles to split between them.
pc gaming was THAT much more dominant.
and than crap came like steam being added as DRM to fysical releases.. and devs getting greedy and going multiplatform..
and guess what all that has done.. it has lowered the quality of games.. on all front's not just looks.. but also how deep the writing is.. WHAT grafic features are unitlies etc.
console gamers are generally younger (12yo and of both genders.. and want to plug and play their games.. instant gratification only playing like 30 min a day..
pc gamers are mostlu male.. higher than average iq, 16-26yo.. and play for hours and want steep learning curves..
=> when games became multiplatform like a fleet sailing only as fast as it's slowest ship.. so too pc games dumbed down.. and became more causual.. and overal crappier..
this has fueled most the hate..
I not care much for wii users for they still do what all consoles use to do.. stay in their own niche corner with their own software...
another mindset thing.. consoles were still playing games like streetfighter a pixelated mess in 2d.. while on pc you were already playing cossacs comanding armies of tens of thousands of soldiers... miles and miles ahead.
pc was strategy.. console racing and fighting.. due the multiplatform of today the production of new strategygames has grinded to a standstill it all but killed the genre.,,
I remember working hard at 14yo delivering newspapers to be able to afford a new gaming pc... some trailertrash stood in the opening of their door smoking weed... talking to eachother what they were going to do with their next welfare check... pay rent? alemony? nah... they would get food from the goodkitchen.,. and screw their kid.. they would buy the new playstation..
thats the kind of image that sticks to you... what for me is the stereotypoical console user...
pc gamers however in my teens were the geeks of the school.. the high IQ 120+ science club leaders, chessclub members D&D players before it was cool etc... only in in 30 households even HAD a pc.. much less a powerfull one../. most kids WROTE their stuff by hand not even typed it out on a mechanical typing machine much less a pc..
you not just played games.. you knew your pc trough and trough... and had vast knowledge of hard and software.. many got sidejobs in techstores.. many now work in IT..
and thats for me what forever be the stereotypical pc gamer.
you cannot buy a gaming pc for the price of a console
but console game cost more, fewer sales, lower discounts, and subscription require for online play on most games
kind of a tradeoff
consoles do not run native 4k or even 1080p for most games
they do use on the fly res scaling to help when fps drops
4K on a small under 40in sitting close is not optimal.
