Is my current aio good enough for an overclocked 10900k?
I have upgraded from zen2 to comet lake, i didn't want to go intel but they had an very good sale so i got a binned cpu capable of 5ghz or more.

Originally I wanted an 5900x, but never found any instock (and if i did they were extremely overpriced) - i didn't want to get an 5800x cause my main reason to upgrade was to get more cores/threads.

So, my question is - would my deepcool castle rgb 360mm v2 aio good enough for this cpu? Thanks!

Otherwise, I am looking at the (MSI MAG Core Liquid 360R)... Cause i might've lost my intel mounting hardware for the deepcool aio, i never thought I'd ever buy intel again... Lol

nothing wrong with the 10900k dam good CPU and if you notice all comparisons are at
stock.anyway, theres very little difference in coolers.has more to do with fan speed and
case airflow you'll be fine.enjoy your monster CPU

and i bet you could pull 5.3ghz with the 10900k and notice the temps i'll take the 10900k
anyday

Huh. That's rather interesting lol. So i could possibly pull off 5.3ghz even tho i got the cpu thats binned for 5 ghz? I should mention that i got it delidded too - and I went a little overkill on the board, I got an z590 gigabyte aorus elite ax.

At least my 5700xt clocked at 2.2ghz with its ram running at 1980mhz will actually make a difference now lol...

No this doesnt mean you could do 5.3 allcore. 5.3 requires a good cpu or you will pass 1.4v by far which results in high temps. More important is delit or direct die. Overkill with a midrange board? Dont think so, its fine for only 260 bucks.

In my price range its overkill imo but I am glad I spent a little extra. I don't usually get boards costing over $300 cad.

Usually dont spend this much on a cpu also. A 300w 20 threads cpu is clearly overkill aswell and should not be used on 100 bucks boards. 10900k is high end and a high end board cost about 900-1600 so 260 is not this much in comparison.

For gaming it doesnt make any difference because your 5700xt is always the bottleneck even for older cpus.

It is, but i will be upgrading my gpu eventually. I'm overclocking the ♥♥♥♥ out of it as it is, at least i don't have to worry about cpu now lol.

And that's exactly why i didn't go for my usual price range boards, i can always upgrade this one later on too.

That board isn't overkill for what you want to achieve. VRMs are very important for the overclock and those boards are supposed to have great VRMs.

As far as that particular AIO, I can't really say about the quality of the manufacturer, but when I went looking for the correct size of an AIO for a 10900k all I heard was to skip air cooling and don't go smaller than a 360mm radiator. So you got the size right.

I ended up with a fractal Celsius s36. If my effing case fans ever get here I might be able to tell you how it performs.

I already have the cooler on my 3800x, so all i would be doing is swapping mounting hardware really....but if i dont have that hardware, i guess i gotta get a new cooler....

I have the Deepcool Castle 360 V2, it'll be fine for the 10900K because it's more than sufficient for my 3900X. While undervolted, CPU temperatures hardly exceed the low 50s at all.

I recall telling you not to bother with upgrading from the 3800X, and that if you aren't satisfied with a 3800X, then nothing will satisfy you in the long run. Congratulations on spending a lot of money on a rather small improvement you didn't even need.
You play at 1440p 165Hz, you're not going to notice a real difference because you're GPU bound, not CPU bound.
