Force Steam to read gyro on an xinput controller?
I'll spare you my anti-Microsoft "why don't their controllers have gyro they're so behind the times reee" rant and just get into it.
GameStop Candy Con controller- in Switch mode gyro is read by Steam but the controller won't connect wirelessly and is SUPER janky when wired. In PC mode, where the controller says "hey I'm an Xbox controller, here's an xinput signal!" all the inputs work but since Steam doesn't expect an Xbox controller to have gyro I can't activate gyro or even adjust sensitivity, so it doesn't even read gyro.
I would use a keyboard remapper to force the gyro to map to the mouse, but I'd like to just do this all through Steam Input.
This COULD be an issue with the controller, in xinput mode it might just straight up turn off gyro unless you map one of the sticks to gyro [which is REALLY janky and feels like ass]. I've emailed GameStop support to try to figure this out- they might not have anticipated anyone who isn't a Nintendo user to even WANT gyro :TailsProwler:. I'll update if they reply.
until then haelp pls

you can use gyro for mouse move, or anything
no need for 3rd party controller mappers

config it in steam -> settings -> controller
for bpm, desktop and chord profiles

and for each game
steam -> library -> select game -> gear -> properties -> controller tab -> enable steam input
steam -> library -> select game -> config controller

if steam is not reading the controller correctly
make a thread in the steam link forum to add support for the controller

https://steamcommunity.com/app/353380/discussions/

be sure to post the usb vid/pid
and a link to buy the controller so he can test and add it to steam client and link hardware/apps

The solution is to get a 3rd party controller driver that can handle gyroscope, I use one you sometimes run into 3rd party driver notications but can bypass it. It is a much better option and allows game controllers to often function with or without steam running, even some games have zero controller access can be mapped to keyboards via the controller mapping and played with a controller, for example. Csgo can be used with a controller using a 3rd party game controller driver

That's what I wanted to do, but since it's being read as an Xbox controller, and not as a generic controller that has gyro, there's no option to configure gyro since Xbox controllers don't have it.
So I guess I'm following your link and waiting for official support :/

It sounds like hit behaves the same way as my 8Bitdo. I have to have it in Switch mode for gyro to work.

If want to play a game with gyro, I use the DualSense or Steam Controller.

It's worse than that, I CAN set it in Switch mode and connect to PC, but it only works wired and ALL the inputs are freaking out. Returning the thing as it was falsely advertised, and hoping for a hardware revision. Custom controllers with hall effect sticks and real gyro could be sick as hell but the execution is just lame. Don't buy these controllers and don't let your friends buy them, at least until they release a new version that fixes this.
