and/or get a cooling pad/vent blower
those actually work really good on laptops since they pull hot air helping the laptops cooling methods
https://www.amazon.com/Eborsi-Laptop-Fan-Cooling-Pad/dp/B0CQJBS7HM
You can use a cooling pad and maybe lessen the system load by using a fast, lightweight OS like Lubuntu or LMDE.
alright then cooling pad it is. I am just not sure about changing os, up until this day i have been familiar with windows only.
When your laptop is plugged in, the CPU and GPU will boost themselves as much as they can. hence why you do notice the temp increase with those
But also, I assume that your laptop/OS did set you to the "High Performance" power plan when its plugged in. effectively allowing the CPU to go full speed even when you aren't doing anything
for power plan, I would run at "balanced" for all cases
I would also suggest getting a decent cooling pad or at least raise up the laptop a bit so it has more airflow to work with.
NOT on beds, carpets, blankets, seats .. without a stable flat surface ..
a wooden plate for example + a stand for your laptop, someting like this.[m.media-amazon.com]
If your laptop doesnt receive fresh air and also isnt able to push out heat.. you damage your machine irreparable.
Free up your laptop from dust, for at least twice a year .. especially its fans .. carefully ..
Maybe re-apply thermal paste (Arctic MX-6)
Also, it is possible to underclock and/or undervolt your CPU, so it never reaches 90°C in first case .. Either Undervolt: - 0.05 V (-5mV) or Underclock from 5 GHz to 4.5 GHz .. or find something in between as -2mV and down to 4.8 GHz ... there can also be a simple feature to lower Watts during P0-state ..
I do use an i9-14900HX CPU. For some latest 3D-heavy games, if FPS or RTS, I have to use my adjusted underclock and undervolt profile with official tools and by the informational help of HWiNFO. So my CPU never reaches 90°C if in "P0-state" .. and even fans are 2 times quieter and dont reach one of their max curves ..
For older games, regular use / work / applications, I can simply keep my underclock & undervolt profile disabled .. and my CPU easily runs cool and quiet @ 5.8 GHz . . . even driving cars outside on the streets are fuqqing louder ..
As you dont own a "X"-processor, try to look around how you could UNLOCK and then to undervolt and/or to underclock your CPU with official tools .. something from Intel[www.intel.com] (XTU) and/or Acer (PREDATORSENSE) ..
Good Luck ..
I dont even remember if i have changed performance at all. Alright! I changed it to balanced. So does that mean it will automatically change itself when i launch a game? Gotcha, in the end it turns out i will need cooling pad for my laptop, thanks a bunch!
My laptop is on wooden desk, there are no blankets near. Dusting and thermal paste change was done two months ago as i mentioned in original post.
I am afraid of doing underclocking/ undervolting since in past i have ruined pc and have not done anything since then, ( like a scar from past) so i am not sure if i can do this.
There maybe exists something similiar to you, or you even have missed ot install an important driver . . .
Uh, interesting i sort of found thermal framework for asus laptops but its for 2023 year model, unfortunately there is no thermal framework for 2022 year model. That might be an issue.
