Games unplayable after SSD change and windows fresh install on Legion GO

Hi everyone, recently changed the legion go ssd with a 2TB 2230 and an adaptor.

I reinstalled windows 11 and every drivers from the lenovo site.

From now on, every games have loading times with an average 5 to 10 minutes, and HUGE fps drops, even on some pretty cheap gba emulators.

What I want to know is, is it caused by the adaptor? So I'll just swap for an extender. Or is it caused by the windows fresh install? So I'll need to do a new one with the lenovo recovery tool.

Others who have done this type of upgrade for Legion GO said NOT to use any adapter. It will impact performance. Use an extender instead so the 2230 ssd still mounts properly

As mentioned above, have you done a drive benchmark?
Crystal Disk Mark would be the go to

Drive speeds would not affect a GBA Emu because of how light weight they are, so i wouldnt pin that on SSD/Adapter issues. Display drivers not working correctly could cause such FPS issues though.

With nothing open/running open up the task manager and see if anything has unusually high CPU or Disk usage, do this when an Emu is running as well.

Also, any GPU drivers from their website MIGHT be outdated, so you should get the latest from Intel/AMD/NVIDIA, whichever is applicable to that device.
I'm just thinking that the thing is just so slow to send information to the CPU that everything slows down, when we get everything slow on games, CPU and GPU are not even above 50% use on task manager.

But if the GPUs clock speeds arent raising properly that would also affect performance in that way
So thats something else to check

Most Emu can only use the CPU.
I used an Emu to play Zelda Breath of the Wild; it doesn't make GPU use 3D Clocks, it uses mostly all CPU. It was pushing like 80% on all cores. Even on a 4790K it was a bit of a struggle. My 1080 Ti at the time was meaningless; game did finally run OK and all, but Emus are crap for the most part. Some games simply can't be enjoyed fully that way.
