Is the controller a ps5 controller? It might have a sound device built in and then being used as your "main" output.

This is interesting and could be the way...

I believe OP found a solution here: https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/1/4328601129269778503

First thing I thought of when I read the OP was a dual sense/ dual shock controller which has a built-in audio device.

Thanks for letting me know. I didn't realise that the OP had double posted.

No problem and good call.

I have not used a PS controller since 2013. :p

Experiences really help people out.

I just wanted to make sure everyone knew OP found their solution to a weird issue.

If you have sorted it then could you please add your solution to the thread?

I only ask so that, in future, if others have the same problem and search for a solution, your solution could help them out.

Ofcourse! ❤️

Go to audio settings on your laptop or desktop --> There are now two options in the screen --> Dualsense controller or your computer --> Male sure to click on computer audio --> The computer will now recognize Dualsense as a controller instead of a audio input device.

PS4/PS5 Controllers have onboard audio.
For example, games like DEATH STRANDING have an in-game option to allow BB (your baby) sounds to output through Display or Controller speaker rather then from your regular Speakers.

Plug in the Controller; go to Advanced Audio Settings in Windows (the classic panel that looks like XP/7 audio panel) and disable all extra audio Playback devices you do not wish to use. Then ensure your Speakers or Headset is the default, then launch game.

With others such as HDMI, DP and Controller speakers/mic disabled, you won't have to worry about the OS attempting to switch to them anymore.

^ this
windows likes to switch all audio to the latest device detected

when windows sees a new device, it says hey im going to put all sounds to this by default now
only really useful when you have 2 devices you switch between, and disable all unused devices

but windows rarely remembers correctly what was the last used, and doesnt always switch back to it correctly

and be sure to config onboard sound card to do what you want, realtek can be set to work as 2 devices, speakers and headphone/mic for voip
if you do not use that, disable all that on realtek control panel, and windows audio devices
then windows will never switch sound to them

its kind of a pain, but you only need to do that once

Yes if you disable other items, Windows won't auto switch or bave option to switch to them. It doesn't do anything weird with the device, such as Display or Controller it just is turning off their audio option.

Something we've had to do more-so ever since Win8 started this trend.
