Xbox and PS5 aren't as good as the Steam Controller. I have no idea why they stopped producing the one they had.
I don't really see the point of Valve making a Keyboard or Mouse; it would just be more of the same, not something innovative.
Just buy a decent Mechanical KB
As for Mouse, it helps to have one that's wireless but can charge via USB, something with a sealed battery inside; none of that AA battery crap. Logitech G502 RGB Wireless is quite good.
Stream Deck can also help out, even for people who do not stream, as it allows for basically endless Macro keys.
The reason you got alot of Points for Steam Deck + Dock is simply based on the amount of money you spent; just the same as if you spent that much on Games.
It flopped. That's why. Last time I heard they were giving them away for 5 bucks to get rid of it all. I am positive that they'll do a second version though.
There was a patent infringement lawsuit. I think the initial case was lost and they had to pay 4 million but I think they won on appeal.
It's a shame, since the Steam Controller was genuinely innovative and novel. Even if not quite as good as proper M+K.
https://www.howtogeek.com/its-time-for-the-triumphant-return-of-valves-steam-machine/ argues that the current hardware gen is good enough that Valve could take another crack at pre-built Steam Machines.
And there's the software-side problem with Microsoft's self-destruction.
I think Valve will postpone the creation of software until later and perhaps replace everything.
So if Valve were to get interested here, it would have to move the world to move to its operating systems.
It's just Linux + Proton. Its not Valves OS
SteamOS is just more dumbed down Linux, tailored for their devices.
