Microsoft Edge Cancels Download
Hello everyone, I have a strange issue that recently started. Before, when downloading a large file, I could leave my desktop, even let the screen saver come on, but come back and the download will still be going or finish, etc.
Now if I do this, the download all of a sudden says canceled. I keep everything updated, I dont change the settings, I didnt do anything odd at all. The most recent thing I changed was installing a new chipset and graphics driver. Otherwise, Nothing on Edge.

If you have experienced this or have any suggestions, please let me know, thank you!

Thank you! It was just from one site. I just tried your suggestion from another site, and it did it fine. I seriously appreciate the response.

its probably windows putting the nic to sleep

change windows power settings sleep times all to 0 (disabled/off/never)
and power states to stay on or never go to low power or standby

I actually have the power settings to performance. No hibernation, no sleep, etc. I only have the screen saver on as far as anything standby.

but check them in the power profile, default profiles will put drives and usb and other stuff to sleep after a few minutes of idle

You let the PC enter sleep mode most likely.

Plus why do people not use Downloader programs. They are much more efficient then browsers and when using one, the browser can be closed out if needed and all the downloads with the app can be properly limited if needed or paused/resumed.

All settings are set off and there are no suspend or sleep modes on. I customized this when I first got my new pc. All performance.

I've never seen or heard about downloaders before. I assumed most were torrent or magnet ones, so I avoided those. If these downloaders are as good a you say, what are some pros and cons using them?

Try this app, see if it helps.

But yea sometimes it's the server, sometimes it's the browser. I use a combination of Edge, Firefox and Chrome and on some servers they seem to drop out no matter what, at peak times of day. Sometimes even for WinOS ISOs I have to wait til like 2am local time to download them, otherwise web browsers just up and drop the download without warning or explanation. But a good download app does much better and usually doesn't have those issues. Plus it helps cause I can surf around and queue various files in the Downloader app and close the browser, start the downloads and walk away from the PC and let it do its thing for all the files I was wanting to download. Unless it's time sensitive I can wait til a little later to make use of those downloaded files.

Don't use Edge. Use Brave. Edge's guitar skills are not what they used to be.
