Radeon HD 7000 series vs Radeon HD 6000 series
Okay, it sounds kind of obvious, but is the 7000 series better or worse than the 6000 series? Specifically the HD 7770 vs the HD 6870. I have the 7770 and The Crew's beta recommends a 6870 or above. I'm fine with almost any other computer parts but when it comes to graphics cards my knowledge is next to nil. Thanks in advance.
EDIT: If it helps I'm currently running Intel Pentium G645 2.90GHz (dual core), 4GB RAM and have the Radeon HD 7770 in question, however I will soon be running AMD FX6300 3.5/4.1GHz (6 core), 8GB RAM and still the Radeon HD 7770 in question.

I don't really care about a slightly lower performance seeing as I'm getting it for just over $110, besides I'm only worried about my motherboard.

Why would you pay 110$ for lower performance?!

"Yeah here take my money, cool now my computer is slower!"

Well it's not lower than I currently have, I'm currently running a dual core @ 2.9MHz

Read the previous posts. Number of cores and Clocks don't translate 1:1 into gaming performance.

An AMD FX8350 with 8x4GHz loses in games against an Intel i5 3xxx/4xxx with 4x3.4GHz.
Intel CPUs and cores are way more efficient than AMDs.

So AMD FX CPUs in most games lose against Intel CPUs with half as many cores and lower clock speeds.

The FX6300 would be more of a sidegrade than an upgrade. However you'd be sidegrading into a dead end socket.

Better idea would be to put your $$ into a better Intel Ivy Bridge CPU.
For example a Core i3 3250 is listed for 120$ and would beat the FX6300 in most games.

ED: wait, is it 110$ for just the FX6300? Because then with a decent 9x0 chipset mobo, you'd be closing in on 200$, and for that price you could actually get an Ivy Bridge i5 like the 3470 (180$). That would easily beat the FX6xxx and even some FX8xxx.

This is what isn't clear ^.

You're getting an FX6300 by it's self for $110 or you're getting FX6300 + more whatever ram and a new am3+ 970/990 motherboard for only $110 complete?
intel ghz > amd ghz
2.5 ghz form intel = 4 ghz from amd
(yes its that far off)

if the q9300 had 8 cores it could spank a fx8350
http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/563/AMD_FX-Series_FX-8350_vs_Intel_Core_2_Quad_Q9300.html
and the test machine has 2x1g 1333 kit for the intel build, and 2x2g 1866 kit for the amd build

amd fx (module design) lineup was pretty much a fail from the start, they still have lower performance per clock than the pii lineup

http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/323/AMD_FX-Series_FX-8350_vs_AMD_Phenom_II_X6_1100T.html
3.3ghz from 1100t is 6% slower than 4ghz from 8350 (single core where gaming counts)
(21% faster clock = 6% increase)
by the math it should be a 60% increase for overall not 20-35%
