Random Crashes with Audio Loop, what else can I do?
Hello, I just bought a new PC a few weeks ago. I few days after I bought it, my PC began freezing with an audio loop that sounds like a buzzing, or it will just freeze and restart itself. It occurs randomly, and I thought it was gone until it happened again 10 minutes ago. It never seems to happen when I'm in a Skype call, oddly enough. I've tried disabling different audio drivers in device manager, I've tried updating mobo drivers, changing my GPU drivers, upping fan speed (no overheat issues, but why not), and I'm still having this issue. What else can I do?

System Specs:
OS: Windows 8.1
GPU: Nvidia Geforce GTX 760
CPU: AMD Athlon X4 750K Quad Core
RAM: G-Skill 8GB, 1x
Motherboard: Asrock FM2A55M-VG3+
PSU: Kingwin ABT-650MM
HDD: Toshiba 1TB

There is no Realtek HD Audio entry in my Programs and Features. Installing it now.

For the chipsets, I should go with those rather than the Asrock ones?

One thing at a time; just try Audio Driver first; reboot when asked; then try that same game and see if still has issues.

As an AMD chipset driver of some sort should already be installed; the one I linked to above is just the most updated ones from AMD.

A fresh OS can be a bit finicky though; as it is usually missing all sorts of things gamers require; such as updated .NET Framework, DirectX Runtimes, and Visual C++ Runtimes.

Currently playing Loadout. No crashes/stutters so far, but not holding my breath yet. And Bad-Motha just pointed out why I don't want to do a fresh OS install, so much hassle to get prerequisite software :( It's about 5:00 AM, gonna go to bed. When I get on tomorrow, I'll test some more and report back.

Yes please test other games; if they have issue; first try Verify Game Cache for that particular game. If you have further issues after trying that then u know it's some other hardware/software related issues.

out of curiosity, is the OP using a headset/earset/speaker system and at what audioport is the audio device inserted (back panel, direct motherboard; back panel, discrete audio card; front panel audio port)?

also, since the OP is using an nvidia gpu, maybe nvidia hd audio driver is also installed. if this is the case, unininstall the component.

set default audio device Realtek.
I am using a Logitech G230 Headset. I use the headphone and mic ports on the front panel, am I supposed to be using a different one? Also, I just took my PC out of sleep, and a few seconds after I got a blue screen with error DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION. Going to look that up in a few.

Also, I have Logmein Hamachi installed. Could that give my PC grief?

Just crashed 2 times even when not gaming.

So, I just completely wiped my computer and reinstalled Windows. Hoping for the best, and installing the bare minimum.

i'm not really sure but some users of another headset (razer?) complain of hearing some weird sounds while playing.

the reason why i ask for the source of audio input/output is that sometimes a particular audio port is prone to 'feedback' and the fix is using another audio port. try using the back panel port to rule out this possible source of problem.

also you said that you took the pc out of sleep. does this mean that the pc is always on and that perhaps some windows updates in the background are still to complete the update process? (this is a long shot query.)

as for the hamachi program, as part of troubleshooting, you can update it to latest version or uninstall it temporarily to rule out cause of audio loop.

as the pc is new and if the store that sold you this is nearby and offers free tech support, you can ask for help.
It is usually on, but sometimes I shut it off for overnight. That was the first time I let it sleep.
