Some clarification on new computer parts.
Hello all, I have bought an ASUS Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 motherboard with a EVGA 850W G2 PSU. My question on this is, is the EATX12V connector on the motherboard a supplemental CPU power connector? I like to confirm this because my PSU has a CPU1 and CPU2 connector, and if the connection goes there.

My second question is, the PSU manual states 'Do not attempt to plug an 8-pin PCI-E cable into a 6-pin connector without first detaching the two extra pins." Okay, the video card is a 6-pin and the connector from the PSU VGA is an 8-pin, my dumb question is, can I hook the 8-pin to the PSU to the 6-pin video card? As long as the 2 extra pins are disconnected?

1. yes
plug the 4+4 connector into the mobo near the cpu
thats power for the cpu/vrms on the mobo

2. yes
break the +2 pins off the 6 pin connector before plugging the 6pin into the gpu

cpu connector has yellow wires near the clip
gpu connecotr has black wires near the clip
