Unsmooth & low fps on all games with a Radeon R9 295X2

Can anybody help me with useful suggestions Maybe something I'm not thinking of.
So I've upgraded my Gtx 590 to a Radeon R9 295X2. My system seems to be handling it. I did a 3D mark bench test & it run exactly how i imagined it should with a great score. Yet when playing games the performance is boggling me with low frame rate drops & very unsmooth motion. I mean when i tried men of war assault squad 2, it feels smooth for like 2 sec's then juddery then smooth then juddery when moving the cursing & camera angle & low fps. It should be running smooth as silk on ultra ultra ultra high settings. My 590 had no problems at all yet this radeon card has & i've not even increased settings. Metro 1st light ran great on ultra with my 590. I test that game & thought ok it's fine 60fps then all of a sudden dropped down to 13fps. I've tried reinstalling the latest 14.4 driver & that hasn't helped. Somethings not right & i can't put my finger onit. My system specs are :

Galaxy 1000w
Sabertooth Z77
I7 3770 K Oc 4.1 Ghz
16 Gb Corsair Vengeance Platinum 1886 mhz
Radeon R9 295X2

Any serious help will be appreciated.

Certainly explained why performance was so poor with previous driver. Which do you suggest using for the management of 3d settings. Is it best to use the catalyst settings for games or is it better to use the Radeon Pro settings. Or do you use them both together or seperate. Trying to work out the best method for improving graphics without doubling the same settings if you know what i mean.
