Using External SSD for gaming laptop
To put game on it, do you just drag and drop? is there a process that one needs to go through? For example, having games like League and Rainbow 6, Do i just drag those entire folders into the ssd?

no
create a steam library on the ssd
and move each game using steam

steam -> settings -> library -> manage
create on the new drive

steam -> library -> right click on game -> properties -> local files -> move

I'd also recommend making windows use always the same letter for external drive, so you don't have to re-add the folder again and again later on.

When you setup a steam folder for a drive letter windows may change it after reboot. Which means that you have to re-add then new drive+folder to steam. To prevent this you can setup permanent letter for your external SDD.

windows normally assigns removable drives to the next available letter
if they are not detected in the same order they will get different letters

exit steam before disconnecting removable drives with libraries
and make sure they are in and the correct letter before running steam

overall its best to use internal drives for games
