How to run games at unsupported resolutions (particularly concerning Destiny 2)
Destiny 2’s minimum supported resolution is 720p, and while reducing my resolution to that did improve my framerate, I wouldn’t mind slightly more of a boost just to iron things out. (I’m well aware I can reduce render scale, but doing so doesn’t seem to yield any performance boost for me).

Is there any way to run the game at, say 540p?

Edit the game's config file manually.

Doesn't Destiny 2 have a resolution scale setting? Many modern games have it. If it does you can set the resolution to that of your screen and lower the resolution scale instead.

Like I said, resolution scale for some reason doesn’t boost my fps, only changing actual resolution does

wsgf has guides for most games

Just stick with 1280x720 or 1366x768

Doesn't make sense to go any lower and it might not allow a custom res, even if changed via a config file.

I’m fine with 720p, I just want to find a way to squeeze out EVEN MORE fps (I’m greedy that way)

Just tried manually editing the config file; doesn’t seem to work. It just defaults back to what it was before next time I launch the game.
Thanks for the suggestion anyway :)

flag the file as read only
after editing, file properties, tick read only
also make sure you are editing the file in the correct location, userdata vs appdata

Make it read only.

Can that cause the game to crash or something?

I remember when I had a potato PC and I wanted to run more intensive games, I set the screen's resolution in windows to a smaller one, and in borderless windowed mode games usually picked up that resolution.

So you think destiny 2 would do the same in borderless windowed (despite that resolution not normally being a choosable option)?

I mean, I believe windows won't let it get a higher resolution, so it'll either adapt or it'll break.

I’d rather my pc NOT blow lol
COWZYOV 19/abr./2020 às 12:24
Though I don’t think it will; I think I once did that by mistake, and it automatically just bumped itself back up to native resolution

it won't blow, but it might just hide parts of the screen etc in-game. simple alt+f4 or ctrl+alt+delete should fix it
