this issue has persisted for years with me, and has only gotten worse in the past 6 months with os and video driver updates. The only time my screen would be in proper color mode i prefer, is when i was in a discord call with screen sharing, but sometimes certain games would trigger it in fullscreen - some steam games and some nonsteam games. My issue has been, I WANT IT DIM! WTF?!

this topic has been tough to research since the online support agents for Hp/Dell/Nvidia etc, recommend ancient resolutions like "Reinstall Windows", Reset Settings, Uninstall Program/Game, etc. and other absolutely unacceptable (and personally, offensive) tech solutions... as well as lots of locked threads with no actual solution in Google results. that being said, this doesnt have anything to do with HDR mode or any array of bogus overly technical incorrect misinformation as been hashed and rehashed online and branded as "solution".

i like dark mode, so i put it as Fullscreen Video, for always. my monitor is just a huge tv. i lose some detail in the image like text on desktop etc since my fonts are white on black background, but my games have true tone blacks and no blinding washed out grey color instead of black, and doesnt turn my room into a flashbang zone which affects camera operations and stream and all sorts of things.

a lot of people will probably wanna set it to Desktop Programs for always, since that is the majority of the topics and posts about this are people trying to get the perceived "dark mode" off.

if someones works fine with AutoDetect then i guess leave it wherever is best for your eyes or display.

the error is definitely surrounding the AutoDetection recognizing randomly for a large amount of people, it does not always recognize fullscreen games and programs as being fullscreen, leading to a confusion of where the problem lies.

i believe i have isolated the solution and would like additional feedback from members here regarding if it works, and if it doesn't work to remedy the issue, so that possibly a more proper solution to the actual problem can be identified and implemented in future developments.
